The C20LET was basically a turbocharged version of the fab C20XE
I'm not sure if the Z20LET was in turn basicaly a turbocharged version of the 2.0 16V Ecotec (Z20XE) and I'm not sure what the differences are between C and Z,but there must've been a fair amount of development to meet emissions regulations.
Maybe these sites can help, because I have clearly been of zero assistance

Thanks for that. Now, how does the Z20let compare with the NA engine in terms of age/history?

It's an old pigiron heap.
The 2.2 is a pretty modern, all alloy, lightweight engine
