I imported a Mercedes A190 from Holland (for my wife) and saved 25% off the UK list price Are Opel Speedsters cheaper in mainland Europe? I stopped at some car dealers (non-Opel) on my drive back through Holland/ Belgium/ France and they all spoke English and sold right hand drive cars to British buyers! One dealer even offered me 2% discount off his Dutch list prices.... Could any European Speedster owners please post the current price for an Opel Speedster (and Speedster turbo) in Holland/ Belgium/ France/ Germany/ anywhere else? Or if you could advise a helpful dealer's phone number, I'll do the rest. thx

Base price in Belgium is 31500 euro. With all options available, price comes to 35500. Reduction can go up to above 10%. Hopefully this helps.

youre right that price cant be right.when i worked it out last june the price was about £19000.with all taxes paid you had to go collect it .i really had to have a lightining though and at that time they couldnt even supply a hard top. i think if i was getting a turbo id look into it again youd save nearly £4000!! ian

Conversations I have had with DG Opel in Dublin, they seem like a nice bunch :D

Good Morning Jamie,

I will forward you a brouchure on the Opel Speedster not a very detailed
brochure I'm afraid.

Yes our Cars are badged Opel and we are unable to rebadge to Vauxhall.

As for the Turbo we have been told that this will not be available to the
Irish Market, probably becasue the Speedster has not sold very well in
Ireland too expensive, in fact I have sold about 6 Speedsters and all to the
English Market.

I look forward to hearing from you again and perhaps doing some business
together in the near future.

And Again when I asked about the TURBO !

Good Morning Jamie,

Good to hear from you again. Unfortunately the Speedster Turbo is still
not available on the Irish Market. We do not expect it to be available
either on production 2003 which is up and running presently.
Perhaps for production 2004 but we will not know this till September 2004
approx.

Are you set on buying the Turbo Speedster or is the non Turbo Speedster
still in the running???

Regards
Adrienne

They quoted me 25300 euros (ex VAT) for a 2.2 Speedy.

Cheers

Jamie

Foggies where an option for the first 2 years. I think RacyRich doesn't have them on his orange beast. Anyone else out there? Cw

cheers, guys very helpful... think i'll start enquiring seriously about a Speedster turbo from Holland or Belgium - they're normally the cheapest countries to import from - unless, of course, anyone else knows different... B)

No, Racyrich does have foggies. Never used them though. Don't you just hate forking out £300 for extras everyone now gets for free!

The sales droid at the dealer told my mate nick that the empty holes in the front of his vx were for 'cooling the brakes'. This is true! it was Nidd Vale Harrogate by the way :D

Not wanting to p*ss on the chips here but from reading folks experiences on this forum, I'd feel fairly uncomfortable buying a Speedster with only a 1 year warranty and any faint sniff of not getting the support thats critical from your local VX dealer. Goodness knows dealers can be crap when you bought the car from them, I dread to think how sloppy they'd be with a strangely badged import. Only you know if the price saving is worth the potential reduction in support. yes I know most VXs are trouble free but WHAT IF you get a bad 'un ?
