Just booked my NA in for a pre-cat removal at MK Hi-Q! YEHAA! I enquired about the removal and before i could mention the car he pipes up "Ah another VX220! No problem mate, well get that out!" Good work Vex and Turboman Imnotworthy Anyway, the missus is taking it in so hopefully all will be well :poke: I've been keeping a close eye on the mpg - been getting 33-35 usually and today 39.8!! But it has been wet the last 3 days and i've been taking the commute easy :) Next thing is remove the "trumpet" in the airbox.... And she what she pumps out at AMD :D

You must drive like a girl!

I am just hitting 33 now with the precat out.

Previously I have been 28 - 30, but you have been on my roads and know how I drive!

Going to attempt to take mine out myself on Saturday. Heres hoping the instructions from one of the other threads was comprehensive enough. ;) Otherwise its trying to put as many bits as I can back on the car and taking it up to Hi-Q :)

I asked Hi-Q in Slough if they would do mine. They said they'd give it a go but couldn't give me a price until they looked at it. How much should it cost and how long should it take?

Get them to call Hi Q in Stony Stratford, Milton Keynes.

They should be able to give them an idea of time.

Mine took 3-4 hours at IIRC £40 an hour, £160 in total.

But well worthing in my mind.

OK, they got the car up on the ramp this morning (after the guy sat puzzled for 5 minutes wondering why it wouldn't start - I couldn't watch anymore so I went out and told him where the starter button is  ) and there was a big gathering under the car. The bloke comes back in shaking his head and said "oooo big job that, about 250 quid, that underplate has got to come off and all sorts" Surely the underplate is just a few screws!! Anyway if they don't feel confident nor do I regardless of cost. I'm starting to think I might have a go myself. Does anyone know if Regal would do it? I could get it done at the same time as a remap then.

Tell her to drop the car off round mine - I'll drop her round the pub and test out the precat removal for you ;-) :9mm: By the time you get to drive it it will be all nicely warmed up and any bumps in the ECU will be ironed out. See, I'm so generous. I promise to avoid potholes as well - now there's something your GF probably can't promise!

Your going to be pushing it for getting the car back tonight. If it was only dropped off at 3pm, it is a 3 - 4 hour job and they shut at 5.30! Hope the pub is worth it!
