I think ricky mentioned it, but has anyone thought about lowering the ratios in the na? maybe it would make it a bit more punchy through the mid range, 'cos i never seem to need a high top end(best i've had on track is about 120ish) cheers d

Surely if you drop them all noticeably it would get very tiring on motorway/dual carriageway driving? Regardless of whether you need that higher top speed, you'd still end up with a car revving pretty high at 80mph

i spoke to regal about this after seeing in the vauxhall sports car club mag an advert for a new final ratio gearing from courtney.....seems a pretty good idea as the one that is on offer changes the final from 3.95 to 4.17 which will obvoiusly produce better acceleration and also allows for full potential from fifth gear too.......i will be getting a price from regal for doing this to mine! :D :groupjump: :jump:

yes, I want to shorten the gear ratio, definitely too long for track/B road use.....I always find shift-points while apexing somewhere! :o :( top speed is not an issue anymore, at me most I hit 210 in Monza, (track that I dislike). and 5th gear goes wasted 95% of the time. definely a must for gaining punch and progression. a shorter final ratio only is only a compromise though, since it will make 1st gear so short that it will become almost useless, so best bet would be to change the final ratio AND make 1st gear and 2nd gear longer (that would allow to hit 60mph in 2nd). anayway, keep us posted on that minime, I'll get one on the spot if available.
