The CTR engine and gearbox has been put in to an S1 Elise and an Exige by Blink Motorsport. However, it's not just a question of buying the engine and gearbox - there's a lot of fiddling around to be done with it (bearing in mind the CTR is front wheel drive). Apparently the S2000 engine doesn't fit in the Elise...but isn't the VX a little bigger at the back...

Yes it does. And the gearbox.

Was that "yes it does fit in the Elise", or in the VX?

Fits in the Elise. Got a mate who made a kit but it all fell through. Ran out of money.

the idea was that if you swapped lumps before you started modding the 2.2 it could work out cheaper to get bigger gains. ctr lump should get to about 220brake without much fuss, and i believe its lighter, but how much will it cost to get 220 brake out of the 2.2. you also get six gears which will be a bonus to some. the 2.0 16v as an alternative because there are so many tuning packages on the market for it already. i think £2k will get you abot 200 brake, and consider that a 2.2 lump is worth about £800. not sure about the gearbox on this though. it also sounds like a supercharger is gonna cost big bucks, possibly £5k+ mark unless you do it yourself :o just airing some ideas :D cheers d

:jump: i was looking at an engine swap!.....i wanted to put one of the vxr racing engines into the vx....until i found out the price! 23,0000!!!! so i have looked at having my engine tweeked! heres my wish list... 1. stroke kit - this will increase the engine capacity to 2500cc plus because of the components used will allow the engine to be pushed beyon 283bhp...( people have tested the std 2.2 ecotec engine and at 283bhp you get quite a bit of failure) 2. new head with large exhaust valves 3. race cams 4. lightened flywheel me thinks this little lot will cost about £5000 not sure about the fitting..... but it should provide somewhere around 240bhp 220lbft and will be able to rev to at least 7500rpm.... i am looking at starting work on this soon.....it might be that i purchase a second hand engine and have all the work done on that and then replace! :jump: :groupjump:

Thought this was loose change to you mate :D :D

Anyway, didn't you beat the VXR at Santa??. Why spend cash on a lesser engine :poke: :poke:

I've looked into one of the 2.0 ecotec engines as lots of people tune them and there are still bits around. Also, it would be nice from a motorsport point of view to be in under 2.0 classes rather than over (not convinced I'll ever enter a sprint but worth considering) The problems include the fact that the 2.2 ecotec is the only all alloy one, so others will affect weight distribution. Looks like an expensive way to go, but could be interesting. Probably not worth doing unless you were also going for DTH throttle bodies as the current induction system won't fit straight on. I think you may also need a custom exhaust manifold. Paul
