C'mon JT :poke: :D

This is from Mr E30nerd Imnotworthy :

Round 5 saw another double header this time at Pembrey. Some varied weather conditions were there to greet the drivers, the vast majority of whom were new to the circuit. This did not deter them from making the most of the weekend, with two Milltek rounds and the opportunity to race alongside the Kumho championship in two of their rounds as well.

Unfortunately the weekend did see a higher than normal number of retirements and incidents, some due to mechanical failures and others as a result of some very close racing! Despite the season beginning to draw to it’s conclusion, people were pushing hard as the points table still has a lot to play for.  With the series leader, Alan Wileman missing form this event it meant that the other front runners had an opportunity to take the series lead, or at the very minimum close the gap ready for the final two circuits.

Saturday saw appalling weather conditions with heavy driving rain, standing water on the track and the associated spray.  During qualifying Nigel Innes slid on the wet grass which ended with the touring having a slow speed roll onto it’s off side.  Minimal damage was done although he did miss the first race.  Simon Lambert took the checkered flag in the first race averaging just over 66 mph around the very wet circuit.

Sunday the conditions improved considerably so the drivers were on a dry track. In Sundays race Simon’s good fortune ended with mechanical issues forcing early retirement.  This left the way clear for Craig Jamieson and Liam Crilly to battle for first, with Craig piping Liam to the line with a 3.87 second gap.  The dry conditions saw an increase in lap times with Craig achieving a very impressive average speed of 71.89 mph. George Haynes also managed to get his name in the motoring press with his ‘drive of the day’.  Starting from the back of the 19 car grid due to qualifying with a weight penalty, he managed to carve his way through the field over the next 14 laps to finish on the podium in third place.

OK, a quick view from myself. Was feeling confident about Pembrey, as the circuit appeared to feature the high speed corners that suit my car and I was investing a new pair of front tyres, when the old pair were somewhat knobbled. Saturday qualifying was a topsy turvey affair. The rain started after the first few laps, so the guys who had tested on Friday had a distinct advantage over those like myself, who were still finding their way around as conditions deteriorated. This did mean Thorney was up the front of the grid! Regrettably I contrived to spin twice at Brooklands and came home 13th. That was the position I had qualified in for the Kumho race (in front of assorted M3's and 325's). In the drying conditions, I went backwards even faster, but still ended the day with a huge smile (and extra red, white and yellow paint on the car). Racing in the wet is bloody good fun! For Sunday, I was full of expectation now that I knew the circuit, but I put in two poor qualifying performances and started the Milltek from 14th. My appalling starting took me down even further off the line, but I made a couple round the first corner. When I arrived at Brooklands on the first lap, the track was clouded in smoke. Thorney and one other emerged spinning left, while Wendy Swales was spinning to the right. I picked my way through the debris, took another couple of cars in the next laps, then spent another couple fighting to join the bext group in front of me. I spent three laps on the rear bumper of Buzzer, had a little look, but no real chance to get by. Was amazed to find so few cars in parc ferme after the race and had been oblivious that the guy leading my little group was in third! Seventh is my best result so far. For the Kumho I span again at Brooklands and as a result acheived my worst result of the season - last.

Niecley done mate, but I am concerned the casual reader may construe

don't hit other people (no matter how innocent they will throw the book at you)

as, 'the person you hit will throw the book at you.'

That is not technically correct. I am assured it is not factually correct.
(apols to the casual reader, but John will know what I mean)

Sounds like you had an interesting time...

With regards to the book throwing, I would have thought it depends on how heavy it is and whether it's hard back or not.

Being hit by the accumulated set of encyclopeadia's britanica will strike the fear of god into most people, however being rapped over the head by any of the Mister Men books isnt going to be a big deal.
