Anyone know who manufactures the speedometer...or where I can get a KPH version re-calibrated to MPH? Its disgusting that Vauxhall want to charge about GBP800 for a new unit......

It's not Stack on a turbo, it's a lookalike made by Vauxhall themselves. Probably easiest to get one from a scrappy or eBay, as mentioned - alternatively I think there are some guides for dismantling the units hanging around on here somewhere - you could try dismantling it and then print out a new speedo dial, maybe...

Should it? Are you sure the fake Stack used in the VX220 Turbo uses the same connector and wiring pattern as a real Stack unit?

Lotus started using Shurlock to manufacture the dials for the later Elises, I'd be very surprised if these were different on the VXT. The later Shurlock dials have a Fuel meter indicated by bars rather than a reading in Litres for the STACK units. Unfortunately I can't find their company website or any other details on google. Could try SELOC though. If your just want it to read kmh rather than mph I'm sure it could be reprogrammed, apparently when STACK units went faulty - you could send your unit to STACK who would reprogram in the correct mileage.

Thanks guys for your thoughts. Found correct one at VPSC - cost GBP250, but has warranty, which might be useful because the needles are apparently stuck at 50MPH and 5000RPM.....and SHOULD reset to zero when plugged back in.

Is it really that important to get one reading kph? Not too difficult to work out increments after you've worked out what is what.

I'm importing a speedster from the Czech Republic (which previously I imported to the Czech Republic from Germany....does this make mine the most multi-national?)....UK registration needs speedo in MPH. I thought of sticking labels on, but Vehicle Certification Agency don't like this. As an aside if I used new Vauxhall parts the cost of changes to register a LHD VX here would be: a) Headlights - GBP1300 B) rear lights GBP450 (fog and reversing lights wrong way round) c) Speedo - GBP900 Total - >GBP2500 (all numbers are approx). I tried the headlight mod outlined elsewhere on this forum, but damaged the alignment screws on one light and so was worried about ever getting the alignment right again. As a result I just bought some headlights off ebay for GBP410, and got the speedo from VPSC for GBP250. Now I need a set of rear lights, and I would rather not give rip-off Vauxhall my money. Anyone got any?
