I need to replace the tyres, the back are down to the legal limit, the front are low but still ok for a while, however I intend to replace all four ready for Winter… Last Winter I spun the car on the exit of a roundabout, it was damp and I gave it a bit too much gas and managed a 180 degree change of direction. Since then I do not take liberties in the wet (or snow) and would now like to make sure that I purchase the best rubber for fast road use. Yoko tires, 205/50ZR17 front and 235/40ZR17 rear, fitted to the standard rims are reported to give better grip and handling, although some mods are required fitting the wider front tyre I am keen to go this route Can anyone confirm that this is a worthwhile change from the Bridgestones and if the actual tyre diameter would be the same as the original and therefore not affect the final drive ratio. cheers

good luck with the 235...I already scrape the wheelwell with the yoko 225... front: 205/50 is too fat. use 205/40 or 45. you might want to try the toyo proxes.....solid shoulder, excellent grip in all circumstances. one of the best road tyre to track with...

Ricky thanks for the info I think I will need to check out the sizes in a bit more detail before I spend my hard earned cash, hate to buy the tyres and find that they touch on the body work. I was under the impression that the sizes quoted were OK and it was a common modification on Speedsters in Germany. Toyo proxes sound interesting...... cheers

I've heard that the grip from Toyo Proxes in wet or dry is excellent, and AFAIK they're pretty cheap...but they last about 5 minutes  I wonder how the costs between running longer lasting Bridgestones and cheaper Toyos compare?

I have been looking into this today and have found oe Potenza's for £376.17 all in. These were on a Speedster I saw at the ring this weekend. Sorry I missed the sizes. But the wheel arches on the inside were missing...
