Should this go into other models, spotted, or off topic chat?! Anyway, in addition to the RS6, Volvo's, Skodas etc.. I saw a dark green Jaguar S Type on the M25 the other day. Maybe other spotted unmarked cars could be listed here?

I'm not sure if crime rate is up in my area but i'm always seeing unmarked police cars these days, abeit not as fancy as the ones mentioned above. I'm always travelling between Junc 1-10 of the M25 and the police tend to like Saab 9-3s at the moment. I have a phobia of Vauxhall Omegas and Volvo estates, i will never overtake them quickly as i'm convinced they're all coppers! -Rob

There's often a tired looking, but slightly blinged, red 3-series outside London Waterloo train station with a British Transport Police ident plonked on top of the dash... very odd.

Strangest one I ever came accross was an alfa 166 in black. But the Police do use some natty cars for undercover which I learned about in my job. Including a "nice" shat-pants-goldy-yellow (you know the one) M3 in a high profile drugs case...... They'd obviously done their research on that one!

City of London Police have a black Evo VIII, which, when not prowling around looking mean, can sometimes be seen parked outside the Police Station on Wood Street EC1.

Might even have a hope of catching some car-jackers in that. Nice motor.

Lothian and Borders have the right idea. They put some of the poor sods on 'peds. Very few crimes get committed while they're around because people are too busy wiping the tears from their eyes and clutching their aching sides. I saw one not long back who seemed far too fat to be a plod. His arse was hanging over both sides of the seat. If people are going to insist on being policemen I say we treat them accordingly.

Have seen a Black Honda Accord in the West Midlands, M42N to be precise on the weekend. At first I thought it was a taxi, though the flashing red and blues under the plates was a bit of a give away. It all makes for nervous driving. :(

Theres a blue mondeo st200 been patroling the hagley rd in brum for a while now (52plate). The w*nker driving it has tried to race me a few times now both in the vx and my old 'boy racer mobile'. Comes steaming up behind you, sits right on your bumper and pulses in the hope your going to boot it. Are they aloud to do this?

Well if anyone bothers to travel the northern reaches of the M6, I can tell you that according to restricted documents, we have 3 skodas, one black, one silver, one red. Fabias and Octavias, but I can't remember which is which colour. I haven't actually seen them.

Must be the car makes them do it !!

There's one in South Wales, patroling the A470. I saw it leisurely swerve lanes on a roundabout causing another driver to take evasive action then shot up the slip road hitting about 110 leptons before forcing it's way onto the dual carriage way making a HGV emergency brake.

I was on my bike and chased it to gesture the drive (as the car on the roundabout almost hit me), when I caught up with it we were doing 95 LPH and I realised it was porcine so I backed off and bit my lip. What a tosser though !!

Excuse me for resurrecting this but I think it would be a good idea to keep it going. I've got nothing to add to it at the moment but I know I'd like to have some warning about who to slow down for on motorway journeys etc. I currently try not to fly past Volvos, Omegas or Mondeos, but it'd be handy to hear about any of the more unusual cars the police are using on our roads.

**NOT THAT I'D CONSIDER BREAKING THE LAW ETC ETC**

chinky chinky

PS - I actually think a sticky would be great, with people just posting Reg No, Date and Location, but I can understand if mods/Thorney think this may be a dodgy area...

I'm a firm believer that unmarked police cars used for traffic purposes are illegal!
