With mods these engines give 175 ftlb of torque at about 5500 rpm with peak power of 240+bhp at 7750 rpm.

Remove the trumpets and use an intake with an inline filter? And then pull out the ECU and use a MegaSquirt instead

I take it the car has a lot of mods though, ITBs themselves won't give that kind of gain! Bet it sounds awesome though, but i'd rather have some nice carbon trumpets me thinks

Here's what QED Motorsport say about it

TB240 Engine

This is a dedicated motorsport engine, and although in general form it is not built for a specific application, variations can be built to suit the regulations of several motorsport disciplines.

The cylinder head is fitted with Q450V profile camshafts with solid cam followers and uprated springs. The inlet and exhaust ports are also reworked and enlarged and our direct to head throttle bodies are fitted to improve gas flow.

To accomodate the higher lift cams, forged pistons are fitted with deeper valve pockets but these also give a higher compression ratio, usually 12:1. Heavy duty con rod bolts are fitted to allow the safe use of higher rpm with rev limits typically set at 8000 rpm. As an additional option, for race applications, a lightweight steel flywheel can also be fitted to make the engine more free revving.

Typically these engines use a baffled wet sump but dry sump systems are also available.

Ignition and fuelling is controlled by a DTAfast ECU which is supplied with a dedicated engine bay wiring loom and all of the relevant sensors.

Looks great. However for power I fail to see how separate TB:s can be better than a plenum and single TB. At idle/tickover and low revs separate TB:s will work better, tho, AFAIK.

oi.....stop nicking my pictures. Replace the ali bells with CF, make them a little shorter (but not much), add a diff ECU, non fly by wire throttle, and you're pretty much there with our TB kit. I know I said end Nov launch but you wouldn't want me to launch it until I was 100% happy would you

3 Q's.. do they have to point straight out ? where's the filtering of the air happening ? does airfolw to the trumpets matter? take it it does.

yes, there is alos an optimum length for the trumpets depending on applications ..

yes, optimum length will depend on what you want tyo achieve (torque/bhp etc). They actually point towards the cabin at a 45degree angle. Yes they do have filtering.

I guess the Lotus Elise (S2) does not use a Electronic Throttle Body on its motor. Would this mean installation of a cable operated TB in the VX would be relatively easy?

We're looking at one main kit but three levels of tune, one for bog stock car (even stock exhaust) - 180bhp bolt on. A stage 2 with full Milltek - 200bhp and a full monty based on a stage 3 car (cams, head, flywheel, Milltek) - £240bhp. The fly by wire is ditched and a throttle cable installed (although there may be other options on this). Sorry its taking so long but I wont release bugger all until I'm 100% happy its perfect

B.A.D did it in his supercar (his ECU didn't like drive by wire either) - but he said its very difficult to get it right.
