Hi, I just looked at the mytyres site and they no longer seem to stock the standard Fronts - RE040BZ 175/55 R17 - 81W On the Buy Tyres Online site they list both RE040 and RE040BZ in size 175/55 R17 W - but notice no mention of the 81. Am I right in assuming that the RE040 BZ's are the ones to order? If so these also appear on etyres at £120.90 fully fitted. Is this a good price at the mo? Wayne

RE040BZ 175/55 R17 - 81W are what you want I believe. My Tyres were the cheapest net quote at the time, but kept me hanging about for two weeks until I challenged them as to when they were going to actually get these 'out of stock' items, whereupon they told me they could not supply them. :( I bought them from Black Circles in the end at approx £120 each, delivered but not fitted. thumbsup I suspect if you don't live in the back of nowhere in Wales like me there may be a supplier withing striking distance in England that can supply them cheaper. :D Places have been mentioned on here but I can't remember who thay are. :beat:

I've done a little more investigating - it appears there are 2 different RE040 Bridgestone Potenzas in the 175/55 R17 format: those with the BZ suffix and those without. What is the difference - apart from price - and am I correct that the BZ variant are ones I need? Wayne

Extract from full tyre thread [here].

The correct O.E tyres for both 2.2 & VXT are as follows..

Fronts - RE040BZ 175/55 R17 - 81W DOT CAD (DOT CFE/ DOT CJC is old stock...)

Rears - RE040BZ 225/45 R17 - 90W DOT CFE (DOT CJC is old stock)

As you can see the speed rating has changed from a V to a W for the N/A....Andy has assured me now that this tyre is the O.E for both cars now!!

Hope this clears a few things up!!

The rears i have on are RE040BZ 225/45 R17 91Y DOT EJH8 CFE 0804 are for an Audi TT

If you update your details with your location someone might point you towards a tyre fitters who know what they're doing. thumbsup

oops - sorry. Location now added to profile. thumbsup

I did read the original thread and indeed I have saved it as part of my 'useful facts' folder. Imnotworthy

Any idea of the difference between the RE040BZ and the RE040 ? The Bridgestone Tyres website only mentions the latter.
