My engine temp (vx-t) sticks around 83-85 when going forward (any speed) But in motorway (0-10 MPH) yesterday it hit 94!! is this normal? What are the safe ranges? (Where the “red” zone would be in most cars.. ? First time I put BP ultimate it is incidentally... Tom

I've had my NA up to 107, but others have had theirs much hotter. I think a fan comes on at about 114 to stop anything from breaking. thumbsup At 94 you've got no problems. edited to add, that I've just realised yours is a turbo. No idea then I'm afraid.

The cooling system is pressurised so those temperatures are no problem. The gauge will flash if it hits 123 c ( I think) that's that you need to kill the engine. Although I do get a squirt from the expansion tank from about 105 + so probably best not to leave that hot for long, or the coolant might run out

That makes me feel better.. so the NA gets warmer than the turbo?! wierd! I thought the addition of a turbo would heat it up a lot?? Any more turbo guys out there? Temps in traffic... Thanks guys! Tom

I think it's more like, as the engine would otherwise get hotter, they've made the cooling better.

I was going to post a similar question myself today. The engine temparature on my VXT rarely goes much above the high 70s. Was going to question with this was right, as others have commented it seems quite low. Perhaps it explains my feeble heaters.

Bengie got his up to ~117 on the GTR this summer... and that was absolutely caning it up the Col de Turini on a hot day. It took *ages* to get back down to a sensible temperature again. (Just don't ask about the brakes! :o )

I can confirm that the temperature reading starts flashing when it get's above 120! That's when you've got real problems. :o Under 110 is nothing.
