But it's also double or even treble the price of the Blueflame so I'd like to see the relative differences in performance/noise etc. You can probably get a flippin' Tubi exhaust for a Ferrari for the same sorta price as a Milltek, they're crazy expensive for what they are (it's not like there's a huge distance from the engine to rear bumper is it?) Blueflame are the same company as Mongoose and I've had a Mongoose for years on my MR2 turbo and it's excellent. I'd be interested in seeing some brave person break the Milltek mould and try the Blueflame. /awaits flames from the Milltek fanboys.

A quick surf later I found the full VXT blueflame for £905...

>clicky<

So not as cheap as you might think then? ;)

...and thats why its expensive. The level of development thats gone into this system (and its proven power gains) is significant.

The Blueflame system on Ebay is cheaper than £905 I think, including DB killers (what ever they are!!!) Worth giving them a call, they are near Wigan. Walkes and me have been discussing them today. Let me know what you think, it's certainly a cheaper alternative!!!! thumbsup

flycatcher on here has just had a complete Blueflame system put on his, PM him i guess.. Apparently the db killers clip into the tailpipes for track days??? The car sounded nice, but as he had only just picked it up it wasn't bedded in, that will probably take 500/600 miles.. The tailpipes look nice and seemed a quailty job, from what you can see.. i think he left the car with them for 24hrs... Cheers Nick chinky chinky

Cheeky has one on his VXR and seems pleased with it. IIRC it was cheaper than the £905 quoted here.

I've been nosing around their website on the basis that I want a nice sound and the price is hugely cheaper. Currently the full BlueFlame system is available at £660 including down pipe and DB killers. It's a special offer as I think the ~£900 price being quoted here is the correct standard price. I have heard somewhere that the BlueFlame is basically a clone of the Milltek but I can't say for sure if I got that from a reputable source or if it's just slander :D Maybe someone else has heard that too?

Same applies for other mid engine'd cars though. I've got an MR2 turbo which obviously has a similar exhaust setup to a VX and none of the exhausts are anywhere near the price of a Milltek, not even the crazy expensive Jap ones like Nur Specs.

Sure the Milltek might be good, but then again so is a Nur Spec (and Mongoose if you want to include it)

Well, the way I read that is that you would need to get the £250 200 cell 'upgrade' to match the milltek spec... so its £860? I would question whether anybody would want to fit a full VXT system for £50 aswell Each to their own.

Good memory!! It is. thumbsup

They have had my car twice to design a new system on my car and then fit/tweek it, its based on the new Astra GSi system they made last year. Comprises of new smoother precat pipe, 100 cell cat, backbox, 70mm pipework. Took along time as its a 300 mile round trip for me, and, these things... well, just take ages!

The new one isnt available yet - the old system on ebay certainly looks a good deal though

Might look into the blue flame option.

Is it not worth keeping the standard exhaust and just getting the downpipe that replaces the precat? The std exhaust can't be that bad... can it?

Not a complete thread derailment but does anyone know the make of this exhaust?
