The silver dash was looking really cheap and tatty, so I have finished it in black alcantara! B)

Well im a professional - :P ............ Not!

My dash inserts were stuck on with tape adhesive - I know that most other VX's are attached by clips [I think you push the inserts down to unclip them????

I just heated up the inserts with [the missus' ;) ] hairdryer then eased them off. thumbsup

I then sprayed carpet adhesive onto the inserts and stuck down the acantara.

Trimmed with a scalpel - job done!

looks good. why black?

Not too sure why I chose the colour black  :P ;)

Looks great Chris,

I still ain't got round to doing mine yet  ..... even though ive had all the stuff here for more than three months

Same here - I had a sheet left over from when I had my Elise. I have been meaning to do it for ages - had no excuse today as it was sunny and the roof was off thumbsup

Took about an hour to do so no biggie

ive done mine too, but in blue - it isnt actually as hard as you image is it.

im tempted to do the top of the dash in black and cover that cheap looking plastic

I thought it was much easier than I imagined!

The only thing that is preventing me putting acantara on the top of the dash is all the crap coming though [inc salt] thus damaging it and making it a PITA to clean.

The lino/plastic stuff on there at the moment is great for wiping clean.

1] I wouldnt want to get rain in the cockpit anyway so wouldnt know! I think it would be pretty durable as alcantara is hard wearing stuff.

2] I had a sheet left over from the Elise so havent got any left. I got mine of a Scottish Elise owner who is an interior decorator. If I were you Id have a look in Ebay as there are loads of traders on there who sell this sort of material.

Beware though there is alot of fake alcantara about!

Looks very good Chris! Alcantara is a beautiful fabric. Looks much more expensive.

And it is easy to work with. I did my dash and doors myself.

But when I read "Alcantara Dash" I expected to see the same I see when I drive my Speedster ...

I did not do the strips you did because I might change them for Texalium stuff.

Surely that dash gets very dirty with the roof off! :( Mine gets minging after 1 drive! How do you keep the alcantara clean??????? Does it stop the dash reflecting off the windscreen????????

Yes, the only things still reflecting are the bloweropenings  . And the alcantara website tell you exactly how to clean the fabric. I remove the dust collected while driving roofless with my 8bar compressor. Open both doors and blow air with 8bar (feels like a hurricane) over the dash and it is clean. All the sand and dead flies are gone :tumble: SteV6

SteV6

Is that some sort of CF / composite style material?
Are you planning on covering the existig dash plates or making new ones out of the stuff?
