does anyone know a good mount to use for the MDA Vario? Also, is the satnav on it best in portrait or landscape?

I am going to mount my phone this weekend - I have chosen a brodit holder for HTC prophit (imate JAMin). I have won a replacement dash front on ebay so i am going to take off the existing one and see if i can mod it to hold the bracket and route the power cables etc - any suggestions?? Cheers Santy

i'm clueless, but i saw some brodit holders on the web, whats the quality like? not sure where to mount either, at the moment i have mine mounted in the middle on the silver coloured plastic bit, but i cant really see the screen well from there. Was thinging about a window mount, but their a bit obtrusive.

I am very impressed with the build quality of the bordit stuff, it is expensive but is is very well made and robust. I was going to try and fabricate a clip in the style of a brodit proclip - to fit between the bottom on the plastic silver bit on the dash and the interior light as a sort of triangular wedge. Once that is done i will then attach the Brodit holder and my origin B2, and by using the interior light bit i might even be able to get to the power nice and easy. My other idea was to perhaps take the dash off and draw power from behind the radio - the advantage of this route would also allow me to deal with all the ancillery wiring for the B2 under the dash as well making it nice and neat. Any ideas? Matt

I've fitted a Brodit mount for my PDA. I fabricated an aluminium bracket, mounted using the left hand heater control panel screws, and hidden behind the dash panel. There's a photo halfway down this thread < clikc here >

I have a Brodit mount for my HP hw6515. It's not quite as good quality as the official TomTom mount I used to have for my HP2210 - the plastic is a bit more flimsy and cheap-feeling - but it's absolutely fine for the job, and I have no complaints whatsoever.

I got a bracket from DashMount which is designed to fit down the side of the radio - however, I've now moved it so that it's above the heater controls, although doing so requires removal of the dashboard.

Edit: This is my old PDA, mounted down the side of the radio:

I don't currently have any pics of the new PDA in the new location, but I can take some if you're interested.

ive mounted my pda just infront of the interia light, where a center conole would normaly be, look good there as you cant see the mounting bracket , and also it cant be seen from outside the car.

anyways, so after reading this and doing a bit of research, i think the brodit mount is the way forward. I can't find a clip that fits the vx220 tho. I definately don't want it on the left hand side of the stereo (that is a long way away!), just not not sure what clip is good and will work with the brodit. More clip suggestions please!
