Well, I've now found some further perishing rubber on my VX. The rubber seal around the base of the aerial has been cracking for some time now (virtues of living outside I think). When washing the car last night, the ring split completely. As its not acting as a particularly good seal now, anybody anyideas how to replace it? Can you buy the seal separately or do you have to buy a whole new aerial? Is changing it going to involve soem mass dismantling of the interior? Ideas appreciated other than the shark fin aerial on eBay I hasten to add!

Had you considered making your own? You could try cutting a rubber seal from an old bike inner tube. Rubber is easy to cut to size and shape with a pair of scissors. Maybe two layers for good measure. No idea about purchasing a new one from a dealer other than I'm sure they can supply but the price will be high.

I was going to suggest the shark fin, but you beat me to it :( If it really is just a rubber washer you could have a look in B+Q/Homebase. They're likely to have something in their plumbing section (even if its part of another fitting). If you need something thick you could get a washer for a tap and just make the middle a little larger.

The rubber seal wont be much as its the same as on a Astra/ Corsa /Vectra etc and if it is you will get one from a scrapy for a few £s. On the underside of the role bar cover in the middle under the high level brake light you will see a large round rubber gromit. remove this and you will see one 19'' or 21'' i think nut. unscrew and the areil will be free.
