I was re-fitting my drivers side rear wheel (not putting too much force on) when i noticed one of the wheel nuts wasnt tightning up, on closer inspection i found this............. its about 35mm long, 1mm thick and goes right down to the threads of the wheel nut. just as well for that recall!!! it will be getting booked in first thing tomorrow. anyone else had this trouble? :(

Can't see the image
But if it's how you describe it I would think twice about driving it anywhere  . I'm sure if you phone the garage / customer services they will arrange to have it done where the car is kept ;)
There has been a lot of hysteria about the likelihood of failure, and in fairness there is only a minute chance, but if you can actually see that yours is going... :(

Edit: Without the photo it is hard to gauge the position / severity, if you do drive make sure you take it easy on the cornering chap :)

Sounds bad. Can't see the pic though. It seems like maybe a garage over-tightened the bolts at some time, or put ones in that have the wrong profile at bolt's head. Is you car due for a wheel recall, or was it one of the 'unaffected' ones?

You need to host the picture on the web somewhere and then post a link to it, you can't just attach it. If you want me to host the pic for you then email it to stevevp @ clara.co.uk (no spaces). chinky chinky

Really really really don't drive. Worst case could be if something happened, your insurance wouldn't pay out and you could be prosecuted for driving something un-roadworthy. Especially considering you've displayed it on a public forum ;)

How can you say the discs need replacing from that pic? It's difficult enough to judge without using a micrometer let alone by looking at a mobile phone phone picture. If you're really that worried about rust get the wire brushes out and get your elbow in to it! grunt (Feel stupid calling you that!!) greenstuff pads aren't the best. They're okay but not the best. Mintex 1144's are a much better alternative, or if you're loaded with cash Pagid RS14 are the trendy pad of choice round here. I'd be tempted to collect the wheel from the garage in another car and fit it when you get home. No way I'd be driving it looking like that.

cheers mate will look at the mintex pads in the near future. Vauxhall of inverness and elgin have been great they have ordered the wheels for me and should have them on thurs fitted. If your wondering which wheels need the recall its the ones which do not have H.T. stamped on one of the spokes on the inside of the wheel. check with a small mirror and torch.
