hi guys and galls!! are there any of you looking to get a bit more power out of you cars? one of the cheapest ways is to re-mapp the ecu!!! £300 there abouts.... regal now have a very good piece of software even for the standard car! the program has had over 400 changes ( compared with 140 of superchips) they have even an extended rev limit version..... i personally have not tested the software on a standard car but the boss of the picador garage in southampton has!! he has used both superchips and regals!!!! seems as if regals is a lot better! by the way who has had the superchips remapp? steve

Have you got any bhp figures for the Regal chips? What's the rev limit on the extended one?

Steinmetz sell the Superchip here in Switzerland (for about £760.00! :o) so around £300.00 sounds very reasonable. Still tempted by the Delta-Motor supercharger with 190bhp though.
:)

Guys What increase in BHP would the regal chip versus superchip? Delta- Motors Superchager seems the way for top performance, what kind of money are we looking at? Have they got a website? Mani

Mani

Steinmetz quote 162bhp with Superchip

Delta-Motor are in Switzerland

www.delta-motor.ch

Supercharger (claim 195bhp:D)
including installation (need car for about a week they told me in November '02)
incl. Swiss VAT, 9,500.00 Swiss Francs. (£1 = ca. SFr.2.35)

Steve, Just out of interest how long would it take Regal to do a complete installation of all their mods at present? Regards, John.

I thought re-maps didn't much extra power compared with a turbo engine?

you are right thorney they dont add much to the top end ( +5-7bhp and the same increase in torque)......but in the mid range the re-mapps ( using what i know of the superchip) raises the bhp from about 10-17bhp plus the lift the torque aswell by about the same amount.....thus making the car feel faster when driving between 3500-5000 rpm.... it also makes the torque curve a bit flatter also with the turbo....the software generally raises the level of boost and produces a very different torque curve..you generally an inverted "V" with peak torque at 3500-4000! with it tailing off each end! but the power increase on the software generally lifts the turbo cars by about 20% in both torque and bhp! based on that i would think because the vx uses a low pressure turbo the power increase should be about 30bhp and torque by the same but maybe more..... when regal have boosted the astra turbos they have had to do other mods to get to their 270bhp...this has generally been achieved by an increase in the oil cooler size/ different turbo/ software/ and a couple of other things that i cant remeber.... hope this helps steve
