Hi All, Just wondering, can anyone recommend a decent vx220 specialist vauxhall dealer in or around the west Midlands. By decent I am implying that Star Park in Birmingham don't fall into this category. But if anyone has received good service from a particular dealer (if that's possible) please let me know. It's mainly to carry out my break hose and Wheels recalls. Thanks

Do yourself a favour and go to Thorney Motor Sport in Milton Keynes! I make the trip from Sunderland to go there - I didn't once, and I'm living to regret it!

Not exactly in the Midlands but I got good service from Baylis Cheltenham for my Hose & Wheel change. Paul is really enthusiastic about the car and it shows!

If Hanley, Stoke on Trent suits you, Greenhous Hanley are highly recommended & used by many on here. Now had 3 years experience with them, NA & turbo. Only vxl dealer I've ever had any confidence in. Its all really about the guy who does the work. Their vx220 man is Neil E. If you go, meet him & chat about your car with him. Worthwhile thumbsup

Quite impressed with Paul and i'd leave my car with him knowing he'll look after it. What lets it down is the service from the front desk, awful!!

Thanks for all your replies...it seems like a lil trek (any excuse for a drive) out of the west midlands and you have some decent ( :o ) vxl dealers. Star Park's front desk is abysmal...I booked my car in first thing (literally) one morning to have the key reprogrammed and told them I needed the car back for one as I had a test at 3 in the afternoon. They said yeah no probs it'll be ready by 12:00. So I go back at 12 and its not even moved from where I left it...I go up to the desk and demand they do it now...an hour later they manage to give me back the car after doing what would have taken then 15 mins (I stood there whilst the guy reprogrammed it) They really don't help themselves!

Don't take your girlfriend to Baylis because the shops in Cheltenham are SOOOOO expensive!!!!!! The service charge is nothing compared to my credit card bill

Horizon motorsport are very highly recommend from all of the lotus guys on MLOC. Think they also work with VXs. I've used them for my elise and i think Chris Turbo has used them for his VX.

Horizon Motorsport

They're based in Cradley Heath

Yep, Steve Thompsons :( Bunch of cunts thumbsdown Once gave me the car back with a flat tyre. They treat you like they're doing you a favour.

The VXL place in Cannock on the A5 might be worth a try?

Bought my new VX from there - massively over inflated tyres, dodgy touched up paintwork, over tight wheel nuts. All minor stuff but wasn't too impressed.

Never use Wolverhampton, I've been lied to and cheated on numerous occasions  - may be able to find yourself a small and friendly local franchise, they can't order the parts themselves but will usually fit them for you thumbsup

Agreed.

Good (not excellent) service from them. The things that they *do* attempt, they do well, but they have been known to completely "forget" the odd item off the job sheet :beat:

Go figure

Anyhooo, a specialist will do a better job, if you can deal with the inconvenience of taking the car (potentially) further, since they actually care for your service. You won't go back if they don't do the job well - something that Vxl Dealers seem to not care about, conveniently forgetting that you can take a car ANYWHERE for service now, as long as they use OEM parts.....

The courtesy cars are crap though (1.0 Agila.....Nice).

Ive had no problems with Lookers Birmingham (The Star City one) they did my hose recall and even gave me a car until it was done (took 2 days, but I was told prior to the work starting due to being busy so I wasnt too bothered)

Lookers Birmingham have also been good for me with the recall. Good customer service and lend you a Corsa (small insurance admin charge). Will probably go back for MOT and service as they have been better than expected !
