Help Gear Shift Knob Removal

is the dahm thing glued on, ive bought a new one, and i dont want to cut it off or ruin the factory one ... i previously read that its just very stiff, but for the life of me it wont budge, any tips? thanks

It's screwed on but with locktite. I'm afraid its a brute force job. Cover it with a tea towel or cloth, get a mahoosive set of grips and get sweating :P

Mine was well easy to get off.
Pablo which gear knob did you go for? I have a MOMO Air Race Leather.

ebay £8.00 plus post .........i still face a small problem, do i grip the stem, to stop from twisting so as not to do any damage to the gear box, or am i ok just to wrench it off. i dont want to leave marks on the stem you see.

Yep..it's brute force...I wrapped mine in a towel and used a big pair of grips...still managed to scrape the old gearknob though. I put the gear into first..didn't move around as much but it took about 10mins to come off....it's glued first then screwed right down on its thread to the bottom.
