OK, having upgraded my PC, and gone through, F.E.A.R. Prey Doom 3 (again) Half Life2 (again) Hitman (all of them) (again) Can anyone suggest a good FPS along similar lines to the above, that I might try next? We desperately need a new (star wars) Dark ForcesJedi Knight game to be released I think. Any views or ideas anyone?

You tried the original Half Life? Might not have the GFX of new games but is a fantastic story very involving and challenging. its not like the normal FPS but how about Ghost Recon, you can get that for PC quite cheap (If Not Free)

Yep, got Ghost Recon, completed that ages ago and have thought about installing it on the new machine, just to enjoy the better graphics really. Same with the original Half Life, fantastic game. I'm not really into online games, from what I've seen they're a bit of a free for all, with very little thought except to blat away at anything that moves. I have seen that there are noew some expansion packs out for Half Life 2 and F.E.A.R., so may try and pick one of those up on the cheap. Although Rainbow Six (Vegas?) looks quite promising.

OK Ash, you and I seem to like the same sort of games so here are my recommendations: Anything with "Unreal" in the title. Unreal 2 really is quite impressive graphically. The unreal tournament series are good for just blasting everything that moves. Hitman - have you tried "blood money" yet? If so what are your thoughts. Have you tried "Thief - Deadly shadows" yet? Its more strategy orientated than a fps as you have to minimise the number of kills you make (sometimes make none whatsoever) and still get past the guards/bad guys etc to steal your target. I am a huge fan of the previous 2 games in this series as they have good story lines and very nice graphics. As its set a couple of hundred years ago, its quite gothiky too. Star wars - Jedi Knight 2? Only trouble with these ones is the complete lack of blood when you kill someone. Very kiddy friendly. Sorry if these seem out of date, but I save a fortune by buying all the 3 for £10 games at the local GAME stores! :D :D

Hi Ewan, the Unreal games don't really do it for me. :( However, Hitman Blood Money, I got on the PS2 when it was released (my old PC wouldn't handle it), and it is great, like all the other games from the series. I've completed all the Hitman gmaes at Silent Assassin rating, which can be a PITA. :D I've heard about Thief, may give that a go. thumbsup the Star Wars games are great Imnotworthy , it's a shame their strategy games suck so badly. :flame: I've just started Soldier of Fortune 2 again, it's nowhere near as good as Half Life or Doom. thumbsup

Star wars strategy games suck? I didn't know that! Apart from my dislike of playing games online, I always quite liked the look of the starwars strategy stuff. Well the ones that are like warcraft anyway... :) trying to get a silent assassin rating on all the levels of the various hitman games is bloody hard work. I always hated that level where you have to shoot the chappy riding in the bullet proof car in the middle east in Silent Assassin. Its nice to play the original every so often where you can kill everyone regardless. :D Anyway try and get a copy of thief deadly shadows. If its anything like its predecessors it should be excellent. Same software house as Hitman too - Eidos Interactive Imnotworthy All this talk of games is bad for my guitar practise. I bought starcraft earlier, and am now looking at Mechcommander 2 on ebay. :beat: Not going to get much done next week, I'll be busy playing games all day and night!. :beat:

Just ordered Raibow 6 - vegas from Amazon, and there are some awsome looking FPS's coming our next year. Crysis Stalker being just two of them, they do look very good, I think Crysis will be one I get when it's released. thumbsup

There is talk of Stalker being canned completely as its been delayed so much and cost such a packet.

But its only talk at the moment, oh and dont expect the next yer release date to stay solid they are looking at changing game engines again! thats another 2 year wait minimum......
