After a bit of advice folks. Wanting to invest in a strategy game on pc but have no idea whats decent, I have played a lot of the command and conquer games so something similar would be ideal. Also nothing too high spec as I recently tried company of heroes on my laptop but it was super slowwww!!!! Any thoughts? P.s-Not football manager as the only way I can stop playing it is to throw it away :beat: Thanks

I would suggest Empire Earth, it's not too technical and covers the cave men, all the way up to the future. It's not too bad for an older game to be honest. But then, I haven't looked at strategy games for ages now. LIke I mention to Fluffy in a post recently, I bought the Star Wars Stratey game, Empire at War, and found it frustrating, I hate having a unit limit, particularly a low unit limit. Empire Earth has a 1500 unit limit which is plenty.

Warcraft II BattleNetEdition is in the shops for a £5 or less. I bought this and its really quite funny as it revolves around trolls, knights, elves, mages, dwarfs, goblins etc... Also starcraft is quite similar but set in the future with Warhammer style marines etc. Haven't got fully into that yet, will probably download the cheats and then play it all the way through. Can't think of anything else I'd recommend. Apart from the Mechcommander series if you can get hold of them. They're quite old so should run on a slower machine. (mechcommander 1 runs fine on my old PII 233 Mhz!)

company of heroes is one of the best games ive played EVER, never mind one of the best RTS ones .. you have to "like" WWII tho ;) just about everything about it is totally awsome, the level and attention to detail is absolutely staggering, you will not be dissapoited big up to you, relic! Imnotworthy edit to say: OOOOOPS sorry , didnt read yr post completely :o :D .. what about ground control (the original one).. i enjoyed that on my laptop recently...

I would go for Ground Control too - and Ground Control II too (not tutu) - fantastic graphics and sound really v impressive bearing in mind how old it is. Black and White I and II are good. Can't beat Warzone2100, bloody great! Earth2150 was OK Haegemonia was rubbish. Full Spectrum Warrior was only good for a couple of missions and then it was all the same over and over and over again. am looking around for something myself at the mo.

for strategy i feel you just can't beat Warcraft3, should be plenty cheap by now, and the expansion should be fairly cheap too good storyline, and slightly different tactics to the usual, mass units quickest scenario
