I have just got my car back from a Vauxhall dealer having had the vacuum hose recall work done. Before I query the standard of their workmanship with them, I wonder if anyone can let me know the following: 1) Does the hose run under the black sill cover on the passenger side of the car, and if so, does this cover have to be removed to replace the old hose? 2) Where should the hose run under the bonnet? My reason for asking these questions is because the passenger door panel now seems to rub on the sill cover, suggesting the cover has been off and refitted badly. The new hose has been run straight over the top of the washer fluid bottle, so removal of the washer bottle and battery will be more challenging than usual. Is this correct or has the work been carried out to usual dealer standards? :( If anyone knows how the hose should be replaced and can advise how it should have been done, I would be grateful. Thanks Stephen :grouphug: PS car is an NA

when I removed my passenger sill cover (to gain access to the lower clam captive nut) I noticed the servo hose inside the sill, so I would imagine they need to remove the sill cover. it should be held on with double sided tape, so maybe they forgot (!) to use some new tape

My passenger sill cover has a slight kink in it now on the inner edge almost as though someone had been sitting in the passenger seat and part of their clothing had caught on the sill as they got out. This mark only appeared after it had the vacuum hose work done.

AFAIK the sill cover does not need to be removed. The new hose can be connected to the old hose and, with care, the old hose used to pull the new one through. chinky chinky

Re the route of the hose under the bonnet. This is where mine was before they changed it and the new one was put back on the same route.

They also took the cill off the passenger side for mine, the cubby hole still isn't quite lined up!

Spot on thumbsup

That's exactly what should happen but if they come apart half way through the process of feeding the new one through on the end of the old one then the sill cover has to come off. I would have thought they shouldn't take it off without trying to feed it through first as it is quicker this way but who knows!

Really useful photo - thanx. chinky chinky Seems they have taken the shortest (read that as laziest) route - straight over the washer fluid bottle. Basically just join the arrows on your picture and that is where my new hose runs. Regarding the sill cover - I am fairly sure they have removed it as the sill pocket now sits proud of the cover, unlike the one on the drivers side which is neatly fitted under the lip on the cover. I guess I expected no better from the dealer, so I can hardly be disappointed. From the experiences of others I know it could have been much worse. Is it too early to start :drink: Merry Christmas Stephen

Gonna have my recall works carried out this spring... also getting new rearwheels so always interesting to read as much as possible regarding these issues :) I was told the hoose recall would take about 2 hours for them to complete.

Ah! What a nightmare the dealers are. My car has only just had the re-call work done and the plastic cill cover and launch tube were both removed and re-fitted badly. Somehow they have made my alarm not work properly. Whenn I lock the car using the remote I get the 4 beeps. Apparently the motion detector is U/S. Should the hoses have a jubilee clip or something on the end?

Probably just a bonnet or boot opening sensor jammed...

Im too scared to take mine in to Vauxhall to get it done  Is there a how-to guide? I guess its just a case of securing the old pipe to the new pipe (with something strong like duck tape), pulling it through, then just attaching that bad boy either end. Or is there more to it than that? I dont actually know what the vacuum hose does..... Is it possible that you might be able to get one free from vauxhall in exchange for the recall document and just do it yourself?

I'd be very interested in this. Not had mine done yet, but would definitely prefer to do it myself given everyone else's experiences.

I think maybe if you said something along the lines of: "I am taking my car into a specialist to get new brakes and pads fitted, would it be possible for you to supply the vacuum hose stright to me and i will get them to fit it at the same time, save the bother of booking it in twice" They might be ok with it,. Maybe they would not be so keen if you said you wre doing it yourself, but it saves them time, money and hassle, so why not?!
