Happy Christmas to all! Could anyone recommend a decent garage to get my vx n/a serviced near Staffordshire, there are a couple of Vauxhall garages nearby, just wondered if anyone had any experienced of using any of them around this area...nice one

Hi I haven't had the car that long and haven't needed a service yet, but I had the brake hose recall done at Greenhous in Hanley. Seemed ok, and everything was fine. But then I suppose there wasn't much to go wrong! Where are you based?

Horizon Motorsport in Birmingham gets my vote, and i'll be travelling down from Leeds to use them next year when mine needs servicing next year.

I'm not far from you and recommend you take it straight to TMS, Whatever extra time and petrol is required is more than made up for with the 'piece of mind' that your pride and joy is going to come back to you serviced & fixed without another 6 faults it 'found' whilst at the main dealers... Having had the 'local' dealer cock up my VX its a pleasure to drive for an hour and a bit to take it to someone who knows what they are doing and more importantly CARES!!! I honestly can't recommend Thorney's strongly enough they have had my VX over the last 5 weeks putting a new gearbox in and the service has been superb, and I get it back tomorrow :D :D :D A huge contrast to my 'local' dealer who could not even replace a rear light properly :beat: Horizons great as well they really know what they are doing too, but can't unfortunatly do warrentee work, but if your out of warrentee look no further!

I live on the North Staffordshire Cheshire border and I also use Horizon Motorsport (52 miles away). I had the 3 year service and a geo done there. They found my reversing lights were not working and ordered and fitted a new switch within the hour. I can't recommend them highly enough. One of my mates has an Elise and I sent him there for a service he too is full of praise for them. I feel at ease with them working on my car and that’s worth a lot in my opinion. That’s more than I can say for my local stealer mentioned elsewhere in this thread. If nothing else get a geo done were ever you go. You will not regret it.

Horizon for things like geo but for a straight forward interval service I use Brindleys on the A5 at Cannock who have always been very good.

I'm in Lichfield and was told that Drive Vauxhall in Leamington Spa have a much better reputation than Brindleys. Off there tomorrow to have one of my rear lights checked out for persistant condensation. I'll let everyone know how I get on... :) Must admit TMS is about an hour too far away but if I was looking to have a lot of work done I'd probably take there.

Thanks for that, will probably try out Horizon, TMS is a bit too far I think, my regular mechanic had an accident with mine (lifted it on the passenger side using a Jack, and its gone straight through) so I wanted to find a good specialist place for my beloved VX

Mine still has some warranty, so for a local vx dealer Greenhous Hanley is highly recommended & has been first class for me over the last 2+ years. thumbsup It all comes down to the guy doing the job. VX mechanic is Neil Emery, loads of experience, really helpful & knows his stuff. Never had any sort of problem even with my Courtenay CS3+ power mods. I wouldn't trust any other vxl dealer with my pride & joy. :)

I also use Greenhous, make sure you ask for Neil. They will tell you that all their mechanics are trained blah blah blah but Neil is the expert and a really nice guy to boot. Tim.

I use lookers, birmingham (by star city). Not had any problems and pretty friendly (apart from their liverpool based call centre who are a bunch of idiots)
