Anyone tried SimBin's GTR2 and Race games? I am usualy a RPG gamer, but Santa brought me a Logitech G25 wheel and those games are just amazing (at least for a guy that havent been to a track day yet, ymmv) :)

Chance would be a fine thing. Sadly in my house 'Sims' means a very different game involving no driving skills at all. And it means I frequently get bumped off the PC and rarely get anywhere near the PS2. :( ;)

GTR 2 is amazing!! havent tested "race" yet, but im sure its gobsmackingly good too (i love simbin to death, you can tell ;) ) amazing sense of speed and the way it replicates the cars behaviour is truely uncanny :o provided you have a good steeringwheel, you can really feel the smallest whiff of under- or oversteer plus the engine noises are gorgeous! (think soundtrack of the vid of joachim stucks M3GTR-lap of the nurburgring and youre there , just put on your headphones and let rip :) track models and car models are superb aswell, -im very happy they do spa, which is simply my favourite track ever :) AND now some user(s?) made an VERY good map of the nurburgring which has got to be seen to be believed! the online community is also surprizingly civil & dedicated to the art of the steering wheel, and although first turn pile-ups still occur, theyre a lot less frequent than, say, PGR3. its also a very competitive community, there are a LOT of very good drivers there! (much to my frustration sometimes :P) small word of warning: some ppl do get put off by the very high simulation level of these games (the slightest mistake wil send you into the kitty litter), but if youre jouve just got a little bit of high octane in your blood, youll relish it! consoles cant touch it, thats for sure :) HTH axel -> just a quick edit to say ive just read that you got a G25 aswell!! i bought one to replace my old sidewinder forcefeedback apparatus as on the 'ring a quick recovery from oversteer could result in a sort of "pulsing" from the forcefeedback as if the cars steering were fOOked .. anyway, at first i was a bit dissapointed by the G25 because, on GTR2, the feedback seemed to me a lot less clear then on the micrisift.. ie rumble strips dont rumble anymore (for shame!) and on colin mcrae it just gives very weird inputs before the start of a stage .; then theres the leatheron the wheel which is just a bit cheap and just not nice to the touch around the thumb area of the hand - the stitching is really bad (if youre used to the VXs momo that is :P ), and the gearshift which feels cheap, both on sequential and H pattern (10 seconds after installing, im using paddles and automatic clutch on GTR2 again..).. despite the fact that the leather and gearshift mark this wheel out as a "serious" piece of kit, the execution seems to let it down a bit im afraid :( anyway, let me know what you think, im keen to find out what your experiences are..

Is this an online downloadable game or is it one you buy in a shop, I've never heard of it. :(

Toldja I was driving like a gramma :) Yep, running in sim mode with all aids off and trying never to leave the track borders, heard the real thing can get really expensive real fast :)

The standard Elise setup seems really shitty, will probably need to tinker with the settings at some point.

I'll give it a go tonight and see what I can do about your record :P

mm been tinkering with the G25 instead of the elise.. settings are on what appears when you click on "logitech G25", but force feedback on high -not full-, and reverse effects on (?) ..it seems to get better after you write bad things about it maybe :P still on autoclutch and paddles tho :o :(

.. and of course simulation, and no drivers aids.. and, like you said, strictly following track only.. i hate track cutters! :P except when im completely screwing up adenauer forst again and skidding across the gravel sideways to the other side of the course.. :P i guess 7:49 must be feasable without antics like those, and if you get someone less clumsy at the wheel im sure you could do a lot better still

about the understeer: i was thinking just now, maybe i just set the rotation of the G25 too low (210° now), and im just steering too much (and consequently i think all cars are set up understeery in GTR2) -> tried softening my inputs and it did understeer less!!

off to try some more :P

cheers!

I've set the wheel to full ffb (took que from Race, where they have SimBin G25 settings :) ). G25 needs reverse effects setting to be on in all games afaik.

Some cars definitely feel better set up that others. The Vertigo for example is like planted for me :)

off to try some more :P

cheers!

Lucky you. Enjoy :)

Makes my palms sweat and my throat dry. Bloody awesome, and there are several moments where you will purse your lips, the true sign of a great driving sim! thumbsup rallly
