Right, i've done my engine mounts, done my radiator, next on the list is the squealing alternator belt. Has anyone done this before themselves? Just wondering how easy/hard a job it is to do. Cheers Steve

Well the TIS makes it look pretty easy  (here)
And it doesn't mention having to remove the clam or any other steps

I had a squealing alternator belt and turned out to be a seized tensioner, see below. but geting the belt off is as easy as it says in the TIS, getting it back on's a bit harder. When you pull the tensioner down it should spring back easily other wise you'll need another tensioner which is just 1 bolt to replace.

Mines a VXT tho, which doesn't have the tensioner. Anyone got the updated TIS with the four pulley v belt assembly on it? Cheers Steve

There is a tensioner on the turbo because i replaced my belt last week. :P Did it with wheel and wheelarch liner removed. If you are on your own feed the belt around the idler and crank pulley, under the tensioner and hold the top of the belt ready to fit it on the alternator. lift up the tensioner using a 15mm spanner with one hand and pop the belt on the alternator with the other, the hardest bit is getting the wheelarch liner back in :beat:

Cheers. I've had the liners out a few times before (engine mounts and trying to track down alternator screeching) did you do the modded idler bracket while you had the belt off?
