:o No GT4 support?!!! Wtf? They cannot be serious! :beat:

>supported PS2 games on PS3<

Well, with no GT5 in sight, I won't be getting PS3 in a hurry. Blueray alone is not a good enough argument for me.

I reckon Sony have really shot themselves in the foot with the PS3 – certainly with the Euro version.

And, considering that they are in dire straits and really need PS3 to succeed, I'm beginning to wonder if their board has lost the plot completely. If PS3 fails to take off, Sony will be in trouble.

Apparently, they have one million PS3s for the Euro launch – I'll be interested to see if there is really a big scramble after the mad keen enthusiasts have got theirs at the start.

How long till the discounts or "packaged with games for the same price" offers start appearing?

And Singstar doesn't work properly, so my daughters aren't happy either.

Fcuking hopeless! thumbsdown thumbsdown thumbsdown

I think you'd have to be insane to go out and buy one immediately in any event! Post Christmas 2008 there will be a price slash and the game catalogue will have improved significantly... There is still a lot of entertainment life left in the PS2 yet, if only the Online functionality wasn't so flaky! That's where the 360 really excels for me. Apparently PS2 is still outselling PS3 in the US!

GT4 does run on the PS3 - and there is a new version of singstar for PS3 which is sooo much better than the PS2 version.

KEY
■■■ No known issues to date
■■ Should play on PLAYSTATION®3 with some minor issues
■ Should play on PLAYSTATION®3 with noticeable issues

Should play?

This doesn't inspire confidence! I don't think it's been handled well at all..

If GT4 does work, why is it not on the list?

I sincerely doubt that there is money to be made... You can still walk into a shop today and "preorder" guaranteed for tomorrow. There is no Xmas rush, no little jonny begging mum to get him one. And at £425 just for the console, it's extremely expensive, especially as most people will buy 1 or 2 games and an extra controller. You're looking at the wrong side of £500 just for a games machine!

I'd be interested to hear how you do Dan.. I know that in America and Japan that they are just sitting on the shelves and they can't shift 'em, but it has been out for a while. I think part of the reason for the delay for Europe was that Sony could have a lot of stock ready to go, hopefully for you they don't have enough units to satisfy demand!

lol

nor is the Wii or the 360 "just a games machine"

I just feel that the high price tag, and no special time of the year will dent sales.

First reports are that GT4 does NOT work properly on PS3.

Apparently there is no force feedback, just a rubbery self-centering feel.

Interestingly, US version of GTHD does not have FF, but UK version works.

Anyone on here tried GT4 on it yet?

I gave GTHD a good go on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. I was using the PS3 pad rather than a wheel, but it still gave me an idea of how the game ran. The most I can say is that it ran alright and as expected, I've been consistantly disappointed with the series since GT2 to be honest, GT2 being my favourite. I found GTHD pretty sterile initially but warmed to it a little after a while. The cars still appear a bit floaty on the road, probably not helped by the lack of rumble from the controller. The loss of rumble is pretty important as it robs you of a lot of useful information. I know that to get the most out of the game you should use a wheel, but people that use a controller shouldn't get short-changed with a part performance. Driving over rough, landing after the jump, breaking traction, these things pass without any great impact. On the plus side, the physics are about right. Drifting through the turns feels smooth and natural and the cars have a decent weight to them. The visuals are nice, but not exactly the leap over xbox 360 visuals that has been promised, which is a bit disappointing. Also, the sense of speed seemed slightly questionable, on the sluggish side. Anyway, that said, I managed a time of 1:18.522 with the Evo IX (Stability control OFF, traction control OFF, R3 tyres front and rear). It would be interesting to see how it stands against other times. If it's poor, my excuse is that I was stood behind the counter of a busy shop using a pad, playing on a 14 inch CRT with no sound, with staff getting games out of draws in front of me..
