Good evening:
I am a spaniard who is planning on buying an Opel Speedster turbo from germany (it still isn´t on sale in Spain) in the near future. The only thing I am unsure of is about the lack of A/C. (It´s hot here you know...) I read somewhere on the net, there were kits to install A/C on the car (assumably from the Lotus Elise). I would apreciate if anyone could point me in the right direction, of where to buy this, and price.
Thanks in advance!
P.S. I am really excited about buying this new car!!

i got mine installed by default. pls search the my previous post for a pic, it made use of the two tray in the front beside the door as an "air vent"? sorry about my English. Anyway, I can ask about how to get it done for u but i will be unsure where u can get it done in Germany.
I realize switching it on cools down the Engine somehow. Leaving the car on idle without the a/c makes the cargoes up to 9x - 100 degrees.

Hi Calbee:
Thanks for the quick reply: I already saw your post. It seems as if you are from Asia. Am I right?? How does the A/C work, is it potent enough. Thanks!!

Hi again,
Sorry for a late reply. Unfortunately, i tried to get as much info from the dealer as I can but it seems like the sales guy knows nothing. As a result, I could only tell u as much as I know.
The temperature here now is about 20-23 degree. with the windows open I still switch on the aircon due to the heat from the car. The ac is sufficent for use if you are only suffering 2x degrees without extreme sunlight. I can feel instant cool air as soon as I switch it on. The air vent are nicely installed (fits very well too) in its location.
However, you WILL still feel some sudden heat wave caused by the car if u push the turbo. If you were to drive in the day with direct sun, i can only imagine you only get cooked inside
. Its more pratical to get wind blowing at you instead of switching on the ac coz generally the heat will overwhealm the aircon.
Expect over 50kg increase with the aircon installed, which is the major downside IMO. Try to get details of the elise aircon, it may be a little lighter??
There are few major "contraint" which i expereinced with my aircon. Since u haven't got it installed yet, hope this may help u get a better system:
1) the right dial which control where the air flow out (i.e. from the front windscreen, side, or foot ) doesn't work any more. air just comes out from all vents. The only way to block it is to close the vent. The dial is fake
2) I do not have any more radiator. I don't know why but that's just seem the case. Radiator is not so important in my country so it may not affect me as much, but have a check on that. This also render the cool/hotter button useless.
the only useful button is the middle fan speed. arrgh
3) weight and power usage. more or less it will consume power, so expect performance loss.
Again, do not expect a powerful aircon. To me, an aircon is definitely essential. While i do not always push the car and rather enjoy the driving experience it definitely makes the ride much more comfortable and quiet. Plus it keeps my passenger happy
Hope it helps, Calbee

Thanks Calbee for the helpful post. I still have to ask if the Lotus air con is suitable. I hope you are enjoying your ride!!
