Have you tried VXL? I can't imagine them charging that much for them. Gets coat.

Hi, Can I ask how you got on with fitting the Precat pipe in the end as Im about to embark on the same diy event, It looks like a tight job with lots of cut fingers to come for me. Dont know if I should hold off until I get my backbox sorted, I know its a silly way of doing it but money is a bit tight so having to do in stages. Darren....

Ian I had the same problem with mine. All I did was loosen the clamp so the precat is held loosely, push the precat up, (if you "wiigle" the pre-cat I found it obvious when it was seated properly). Tighten the clamp so you can "ONLY JUST" move the precat by hand. Then with a rubber mallet tap the pre cat up towards the turbo/manifold to help it seat, and then tighten the clamp right up. To be honest I did not have too many snags, but from the design of the clamp, it is very easy to mis-align the clamp so it does not sit 100% true around the precat lip. Hope this helps. :) Rob Edit to say: Someone with more experience may be able to give you a different tip, but this worked for me. From what I have gleened off the site it can be trial and error.

I used an old bottle jack i had lying around to get a snug fit between turbo and precat pipe (don't use too much pressure though) Then when fitting the clamp band I made sure I could easily get to the nut with a straight extension bar - can't quite remember but I may have turned it upside down or moved orintation of the screw around to make acces easier. Hope it all goes well

fitted mine 3 times, blew everytime 13quid i think the proper gasket is from vxl hasn't leaked since. you have to get one off a zafira GSI though as they dont show it for the vxt. IIRC a new clamp is 35 quid! :o
