Bit of a dull one this i'm afraid. I find the heater is blowing all manner of dust, bits of leaves and other stuff onto the dash. Does anyone know of a solution? Could a filter (a pair of the girlfriends tights?) be attached to the front of the heater feed pipe? Does the feed pipe just pull out? (not had a good look at it yet.) cheers for any info

correct on all points Jester!! B) Open bonnet, pull off silver pipe (the end that connects to dash), put some tights over and push it back on. 90% dust free :groupjump:

Only prob is that the heater doesn't work with the pop sock mod fitted. I've elected to get shite blown all over the cab , while allowing for the heater to work now the winter's nearly with us.

I use damp paper cloths intended for cleaning of babies when the dipers are changed. Wipes the dash efficiently at a cost of £0,01 a piece.

On purchasing my new VXT recently I took the pipe off to do the mod. To my suprise a gauze filter is now fitted. Vauxhall must indeed look at this site

Wayne did say to me that later models do have a filter installed. You still get crap & stuff coming out, but only the stuff that falls into the dash vents when the roof is off :)

I have the cr*p on dash problem and will one day do the sock mod...probably. Can't understand why doing the sock mod would effect the heat coming into the cabin...unless you actually used a sock!!! :beat:

The pop sock acts as an airflow baffle and the flow becomes an athsmatic cough . Big enough mesh to leave the airflow doesn't stop the dust. I just leave it off so the car will demist.

Neither do i, the heater works fine but have used a piece of the gauze type polishing cloth as a filter.

I can't see why the vauxhall filter wont fit the earlier cars. After all it fits in exactly the same way. Don't know about the part number.

Yes mate, you need to put a collar in the fan outlet under the front bonnet to ensure you have a good seal. Works a treat. Do a search on "barley" and you'll find instructions ! Honest ! :D Jim cross did it recently too.

thanks,

I'll have a play around when I get out of work,
hope I can sort it.

If I took it to Vauxhall they'd just say "what you expect its a hand made car"
does the silver pipe just come off then?
incase I pull it and break something.

Unclip the silver pipe from the dash end. twist & straighten the pipe and the bottom butt-joiunt will come undone. Silp something you can use as a flange to sit just proud of the fan outlet (I used a robinsons barley water bottle cut down originally!!) Straighten and twist the silver pipe onto the flange Reattach dash end of silver pipe et vioila - no airflow loss at the butt joint ! mine improved 300% at least.

I will give it a go. Might even have some robinson bottles too :) Never thought i'd be modding a £20k car with plastic bottles but if it does the job then class! cheers PureBob.

you CAN cut a bit of drainpipe or alloy like Jim, but the squash bottle works if you can't be arsed !! JimH should have the diameters etc for you.
