I have had enough of the windows leaping out - my plastic runner/guide things need replacing on passenger side. The drivers were replaced a while back by Vaux (warr. job). Any idea where to get them from? For those who don't know if you look down the "slot" where the window comes out there is a metal guide. The window follows this as it moves up/down with a plastic groove which is stuck to the window. I am sure I have seen a guide on web before - but can't remember where and it is not in the "useful" threads bit! Thanks in advance!

Mike, good luck with this job as it's a right PITA. The helpful guide was done by someone called stormtrooper. He needs a medal or something because his guides are better than you'd expect VXL's to be!

Good guide but not quite what I want - my problem relates to the part which keeps the glass in the right place. It is a small block of plastic with a groove in. Any ideas about where to get new ones etc?

Thanks

Can you see this block of plastic without dismantling the door?

My drivers side window rattles like hell, and it's *unbelievably* annoying, so maybe I'm missing this part too. Windows wind up and down fine though.

I'd guess you'd need to get the part from Vauxhall, and you'd find the number in the parts manual, but I took a quick look there without finding anything that fits the description.

Do you mean this part:

If so then either your local dealer or a salvage yard is prob the best way forward thumbsup

Edit: If that is the part you need it looks like this may be the part number thumbsup

M1ke, I know the bit you mean. But before you replace anything, check that the adjuster screw at the bottom of both runners is still connected. If someone has over adjusted window in past the screw can fall out and then the lower part of the window runner is unspported and the window becomes very flopping. Look through the two holes on the bottom of the door (with a screw either side of the hole and check the adjuster screw is still in place. If its not, thats your problem. If the front screw has fallen out, its door panel and door handle off to get access. The screw is a small threaded stud with both a right hand and left hand thread, so that as you turn it it either screws in or out of both the door and runner at the same time. (hope you understand????) Just a thought. Kevin

Thanks guys - fixed it at weekend what a PITA!!! Lots of swearing and a sore arm resulted in a working window!! Found that the front runner/guide had bent (probably through trying to force window up when it had jumped out! I took the runner out (moderately hard) and then straightened it (easy) then put i back in (f**king hard). Then tightened up all the screws at top (screw 16?) and adjusted bottom ones (like morgan9122 stated).

Now it is like a dream...only thing is it is now so good I have noticed that the drivers door rattles too!! At least I know the score now!!

Mike
