Thanks for that link – I've been wondering what Forza 2 was really like, and should I get a 360 to tide me over till GT5 is out.

Now I know – not even up to GT4 level in terms of graphics (!) and the physics don't look that convincing either. So, I can relax, continue to avoid the infamous "red circle of death" club and carry on playing GT4 with the 900° FF G25 wheel whilst waiting for GT5 thumbsup :D

How can you be so sure having not even played it? And how exactly can physics not look that convincing?! I can't begin to understand how you can have an understanding of driving sim physics by sight alone, very impressive!

It's a real shame that people are so easily swayed by a little extra polish on the visuals, and as a result will miss out on all of the great things that Forza 2 brings to the racing scene. 360FPS physics, 60FPS visuals, in depth modifications, drive-train swaps, tuning, advanced AI and potentially great online racing if the first Forza was anything to go by.

Oh well, you just can't convince some people! Have fun waiting for GT5 and racing against drones in GT4 in the meantime, it's going to be some wait. :P

I just have one question, why do you need 900 degrees of lock in a racing sim/game?

Honestly Speedy, having been a long time devotee of the GT games (since GT1 on the PS) and having played the demo of forza2:

The physics in game are second to none, I have never played anything that felt more realistic.

Also if you want to see the graphics shine watch this:

I wondered that too when these wheels first came out and people were making a big deal about them. Unless you're into drifting etc (which as VX owners I doubt many of us on here are), when on track does anyone ever use that much lock? Unless my driving is absolutely pants and doubt for racing you'd ever really need more than half of that.

If a game does need that much input form the wheel, surely that itself is a weakness in the physics?

Seem to have touched a nerve here! :P

Just doesn't look convincing: textures, lighting – in particular how the light on the cars doesn't relate well to the surroundings. GT4 did it better two years ago at PAL definition.

thumbsup I will!

As soon as I moved from a Logitech Driving Force to a Logitech Driving Force Pro, I never wanted to play any games that don't suppot the DFP (such as TOCA 1) ever again – just sooooo Mickey Mouse. I find, especially when negotiating a hairpin or driving a track like Monte Carlo, it is just so much more realistic.

GT5 will be awesome – especially if the 6-speed, H-gate gearshift of the G25 is supported.

Thanks, ricer. Still not convinced :D

Have you ever used one? It is like a real steering wheel in its response – and, at least in a game like GT4, totally convincing. The feel of my Lotus, 300ZX and Pug 106GTI are all spot on – so I presume they've got the others right too thumbsup

I have played /own ALL the GT games PS1/PS2 and have also tried the new Forza demo!!!!

All I can say is... this is a free Demo of what is coming. And....It's 100% better then GT.

Thats all I can be bothered to say at this time of night!

You did touch a nerve, I'm glad my reply showed that! :P

The sad thing is, that you are dismissing a game based on what's you've seen of a video on the web. Everyone who plays Forza appreciates that it's not the best looking racing sim out there, but then perhaps that is not the point. People that play Forza do so because of the physics, which in my opinion are unmatched on a console racer. If you love racing sims, then you'll surely appreciate that it's more about the physics? I loved GT1 and GT2, but from there it went downhill. GT3 was lacklustre, it had the numbers, but racing was just dull against the 'slot-car special' AI and the handling and phyics were honestly a let down for me. I was hugely disappointed with that game because I wanted it to be great, I looked forward to it. GT4 was largely the same experience, from what I played of it, but they'd already lost me at GT3. What I find most frustrating is that people dismiss Forza outright, even though they've never played it. Games are about interaction, not 1 minute videos.

What happens when you are racing GT cars and Le Mans cars in Gran Turismo then. Can you lock the Logitech wheel so that it doesn't spin 900 degrees? Because I doubt many Le Mans cars have that much steering lock..

By the way, you didn't explain how you know what the physics are like just from watching the video.. ;)

SpeedyK, does this mean that you can use your Logitech G25 wheel with your PS2? My girlfriend has just ordered me one for my birthday, but I was getting it to mainly play GTR2 and LFS on the PC :) Would be cool if I could use it on consoles when I finally get around to buying one of the newer generation consoles (360, or PS3) as I still only have the PS2 and original Xbox

But surely that's to do with the quality of the wheel, not the amount of rotation it allows?
