New'ish to the Bedfordshire area and was wondering if people have any recommendations for good driving roads. Found a couple myself (will have to take the GPS with me next time to remember the route) but welcome other suggestions... rallly

There are great roads around Hockliffe, Woburn and surrounding areas. Three of us had a blast a few weeks ago - me, M3 and a 330d. Serious fun and very few cameras!

Had a good blast a month or so back around the roads of North Beds. Must have done 100 miles or so with no destination in mind. Ended up with sun stroke!!

If you're coming from Cambs, I'd say go out to St Neots, through Eaton Socon out towards Upper Staploe then follow sings to Kimbolton. Through Kimbolton towards Chelveston/Raunds then head towards Newton Bromswold. Pick up the main A6 towards Bedford turn off at Sharnbrook and pick up the signs for Odell. Through Odell to Harrold and then Lavendon. Then to Odell (nice place to stop for some food/drink). Then on through Emberton and Sherington, pick up the A422 towards Bedford. Turn off into Bromham and follow signs to Oakley. Onto the bypass towards Milton Ernest/Rushden/Kettering (speed camera alert 50mph). As you get into Milton Ernest turn right towards Thurleigh (eyes open for any exotica leaving Bedford Autodrome) then Bolnhurst (another great eatery here; The Plough) and then back to where you started by following signs for Wyboston/St Neots.

Theres a great mix of fast A roads and more challenging twisty B roads with plenty of nice villages and pubs along the route. Only fixed cameras are at Milton Ernest. Head up that and you can't really go wrong. Stick to 30 through the villages and you'll be laughing! It's a kind 0f 15 mile by 15 mile box borderd by the A14 at the top, the A1 on the right hand side and the M1 on the left hand side. rallly

Theres at least 3 or 4 VX's in and around Bedford now, so might need to have a mini-meet at some point! thumbsup

Good road thumbsup though technically speaking its Herts/Cambs rather than Beds isn't it?

The road from Baldock to Bishops Stortford (in Herts) is truly great - exhilarating, nerve-wracking and a real test of drivng skill thumbsup

Thanks for suggestions, accident around the A1M/Baldock services meant I had to go home a different way last night.

Melbourn...Meldreth...Whaddon...Kneesworth...Wrestlingworth...Eyeworth...Dunton...Biggleswade...Broom...Stanford

Basically a lot of the A1198/B1040/B1042

Lightly traffic'd, no cameras, pretty smooth road, great countryside views :)

Great 2nd gear kink around here (use link and paste the following co-ordinates):

(couldn't get the full URL link length to add to this post)

Would make for a great camera/video shot rallly
