Hi,

I think ive hopefully sourced an EGR valve from a 2.2 vectra from a local scrappy, im going down there in a bit to pick it up, but can someone tell me how to remove the actual plug on top? Do you just pull it?

This is the best pic i could fine, ignore the blanking plate.

Help please :)

Thanks

iirc you push down on the clip on the top, then it pulls clear been a while since i unplugged mine, but its pretty obvious once you startt tugging at it

Hey! Thats my EGR! :) Yup, remove the grey safety clip first from the EGR socket & plug by pushing down on the centre prong and pushing out. Then remove the loom plug from the EGR. BTW my blanking plate has been in place for about 10k and no problems. I drilled a hole in the blanking plate allowing me to position the EGR as normal, allowing the plunger to operate.... you can see a slight indent where the plunger was hitting the plate, thats where I used a 12mm bit to drill a hole....! If you look on z22se.co.uk there's a thread where vocky (who is also on here) is making EGR 'fakers' that mean you can remove the EGR valve completely...

Cleaning can sometimes do the trick! The carbon build up can prevent the unit functioning properly...

Hi,

As Rabidh says, remove it. Vauxhall have decided that it is no longer required to meet the regulations, and is removing them on any car that comes into the workshop with a faulty EGR. Vocky's EGR gismo is a superb design.

The other course of action, is to take it to Vauxhall, who can deprogramme it from the ECU. and then blank it off. It shouldn't cost more than £50, should it?

Removing it without an ECU update or a Vocky EGR Gismo will shut down fueling, if I remember correctly. Cleaning the unit is more or less the same procedure as this CLICKY

I thought that's what I said Speedster - but it doesn't hurt to clarify :P It can only be removed after deprogramming it from the ECU, or by conecting the EGR-cheat from Vocky. Steve

Can anyone tell me if it will be okay to leave it as it is until i get a simulator? i have just placed a disc of thin aluminium over the hole between the gasket and the EGR valve. The actual 'plunger' bit is still free to move, the disc only covers the one hole. I just read above that if the EGR valve is removed the fuelling will shut down, but will this still happen if it still plugged in but just covered?? Please Help....

Only if you disconnect the EGR electrically. Your fine with the cover....

If you just blanked out one of the ports and if your cleaning was successful, no EML! thumbsup
