Went into my local Game today and bought a Wireless wheel for when Forza 2 comes out. Take it home plug it in and its faulty, a call to MS customer servces confims this so I take it back. when I take it into the store the manager tells me 'this is not the wheel you purchaced from us' er it is and less than 90 minutes ago, He then points out the the bar code is a 'non UK' one and tells me I must have bought it off the internet and basicly I'm a liar out to pull a fast one swapping goods. I insist that this is not the case and off he goes to call his head office, 20 min later he returns and tells me that its 'definalty' NOT the product purchaced from them, its over a year old, from China, and the serial is not even recognised by their till... IT IS THE ONE I BOUGHT FROM YOU YOU FECKER SO STOP CALLING ME A LIAR!!! Its now been left with them to send to head office to investigate so still no wheel for Forza 2  Anyone got any idea where I go from here with Game?

Cant help with where to go but I can tell you that I had 2 360 wireless wheels from amazon, neither of which worked, both returned. After the second one I just got my money back.

Was thinking about trying again after Forza arrives but I would never buy from GAME, I havent had many "great" experiences with them and they are bloody expensive compared to most online retailers.

There was no dispute that I had been and bought a wheel, just that the manager would not belive the one I was returning was the same one I bought... He even said he had checked the bar code himself before handing it over and was positive 100% that it was NOT that code they sold me, and then told me the computer would not recognise the code on 'my' box so it had not come from them, and I'm a liar, I even had to tell him twice to lower his tone to me which was rich considering they have a sign on every till saying agressive behavior towards staff will not be tollerated, obviously its ok with customers  I'm f'kin mad about this and have emailed their head office and the wheel is on its way back to them for 'examination' not that I'm holding my breath, I've almost written the £90 off, I mean what can I do if they just say 'nope not one of ours' when I know full well it is. If they do sort it out at head office and can trace the serial through their suppliers and admit they did sell it to me then I'm demanding a written appoligy and will be having words with the manager about how he delt with me in the same tone that he spoke to me.

The pedals did not work and the left paddle shifter went straight to 1st gear even if you were in 6th... Not that it made much difference as you could not drive forwards. But my 'brief' impression of the wheel was that it was very well made and I recon a working one would be superb

 I know it's a long shot but like in many security firms you get ex-militery/ex-police (or even wanna be's), you see the same kind of thing in trading standards (with regards to ex-legal types) and they just love to swing their old cobwebbed battons again (metophorically speaking.)

It's worth a try calling them and seeing what their advise would be. Then i would (if headoffice let you down) send them a copy of a well drafted letter that you will be submitting to the local newspapers and of your plans to release a 'you tube' video of your ordeal. Perhaps they will see that their bad behavour and lack of customer service alone (regardless of their lies or incompitance) is not worth sacrificing for a meesley £90.

Just a thought thumbsup

Bad news mate. I had a similar thing with Halfrauds a year or so ago. Opened up my "new" spark plugs to find 4 very old and dirty ones inside. Basically somw tw*t had used the new ones and glued down the box to make them look unopened and returned them. from my dealings (wife is a solicitor), it is up to the shop to prove to you that they have a robust way of "tracking" returned goods. Game wil need to look at the bar code on the "box" which will be uk, otherwise it would not have gone through the till in the first place, and then see how many times it has been returned. This should be logged by their computerised scanning equipment. They are then duty bound to investigate each subsequent return to check it's validity. as you can see it's too much hassle for them to do this, so cahnces are you should be okay. But don't be put off. Be persistent. Ask them to prove that "ALL GOODS" are inspected upon return. They obviously don't so you should be able to get a refund/exchange. If in any doubt see Citizen Advice or Trading Standards. I was ready to set the wife loose to try and baffle them with science, but in the end I had no trouble. Hope you are as lucky. Good Luck Rob

It was definatly a 'new' wheel as once opened there is no way you can repack these things! The manager stood there and told me it could not have come from the store as the bar code was not recognised by there system or the same as the one on my recipt... Yet I left the store with it 90 min before and it all went through fine when I bought it at the till.

Just a quick update after several 'firm' emails to Game the customer service girl dealing with it has decided... 'My manager has got back to me and although all indications are that this wheel did not come from our store she is happy to offer a replacement as a gesture of goodwill' and 'we will continue to investigate where this wheel came from but I have checked on the practise of getting the product from the store room and apparently this is quite normal' frustrating but at least I get a replacement wheel, I really really wanted them to get to the bottom of it so the manager had to apoligise in person but I guess thats to much to wish for, hope he has a great time at his next review tho... to$$er :9mm:

He seems to have jumped to this conclusion VERY quickly, almost as If he knew it was the incorrect one when you returned it.

whenever I've returned faulty goods (at other stores), they've always been swapped really quickly, usually totally un-inspected. I'd suggest that the speed in which he blamed you, was to cover up something else, either he knew the wheel was swapped by somebody else (possibly a staff member), or he was selling an item that had been previously returned as faulty.

I'd suggest something fishy is going on here...

that or he has a stash of "import iffy" wheels in the stock room that he purchased himself on the cheap, passes them off as customer wheels and then takes the legit ones home to sell on ebay or soemthing.... ok that relys on having NO faith in people, but its not a huge leap of thought is it...
