But you are forgiven :)

What mods are you guys running? Ive got the VXR engine in my Turbo although i need to adjust the handling a bit.

Using wheel + manual gears = thumbsup

Are you using the wheel?

Hope to see you all later B)

Why thank you sir, but I am not that good, just a bit lucky :P

Favourite moment:

Sitting at the back of the grid at Sebring, watching Mr Traction Control (tango) absulutely stuff it into silverback about 10 meters from the start following an unexpectedly harsh bout of torque steer.

Oh, and the MI2 moment on Tsukuba, an almost perfect pirouette by 2 parallel VXs resulting in another dual wipeout.

My VX is running at about 270Bhp and I use a controller.

ABS on
STM off
TCS off

Yes, I did. Do you have a problem with that? :P

I also wanted R1CHY not to punt me off on the first corner of every race, but that didn't happen

auto gears poof

Even with the control pad, you should try and use manual gears, you will get round the track much faster!

I also have:

STC off
TSC off
ABS on
Manual

rallly

EDIT- And view from in car i dont think you have the same control when you are watching the back of the car thumbsdown

Just to set the record straight, it was "braking lines only" not "right line" :P

...and I wasn't fussed about traction control. It's just that it would have been nice to know that it had been turned off before I attempted to leave the grid in my highly tuned VX220 with my foot to the floor

At least you realised the problems I was having only a couple of seconds after I did

I use controller, manual gears, everything off except ABS which might explain why I saw rather too much of the green stuff last night  that or I need to start (start?!) adding some downforce to the monster VX. Maybe I should change my forum name/number plate to 'OFFROADER' :P Up until now I have relied on the 'bonnet' view but miss the mirror for obvious reasons...just find it too fidly having to look around with the right stick when approaching a tight bend at 100mph with 2 rabid VX's vying to get past down either side. So what are the wheels like to use then...I haven't used one since the days of Jeff Crammond's Grand Prix (1) and they were pretty cack in those days.

I think they're pretty good :D

I'm pretty crap but I think I'd be even worse if I had to use a controller

Ive had about 4 wheels before for various consoles and i have never ever been able to even make it round the track without spinning/crashing and i generally dont have control of the car.

But the force feedback wheel feels quality, has some weight to it and is a lot easier and more realistic than using a controller! You can feel when the back end is about to go out (as the motors built in mean that the wheel really does fight back) and really get some good drifts if you want to. The paddle shift gears work really well and i was really impressed with it. I wouldnt be able to go back to playing something like forza 2 with a control pad now.

I would highly recommend everyone gets one asap,

PC world £80 if you reserve online and collect in store, expensive but well well worth it! you will get much more enjoyment from, the game! thumbsup

Clicky

They are only good though if you have a decent place to mount it, as in my previous thread, i found the ironing board great!

Would it be worth racing with damage turned off? Would avoid the late braking, kamikaze drivers trying to win the race at the first corner and only managing to punt someone off the track. At least the driver being punted off wouldn't lose out because their car is damaged.

More Force Feedback wheel comments from another thread:

I have to agree 100%

I played the demo with controller, seemed great, then got a wheel (M$oft one) tried it and at first didnt like it (initial turn in was v sharp) but after some practice got used to it, got the full release of the game and played with wheel for first 8 hours :D , then tried the pad again and WTF!!!! it was like playing a different game, controll was awful.

The wheel really does add to the simulation experience.
I did find playing with it on my lap to be rubbish though, and once attatched to a stable surface enhanced the experience again even further.

It helps to set it at the right height, reach etc.

Trouble is... then you might as well just do time trials.

There's isn't any racing then :(

-edit-
Oh hang, you mean keen collision detection on, but turn off damage.

That might work I guess.

IMO simulation damage is what makes the game all the more fun and realistic. Although very annoying when it happens but thats life :) , maybe we just need to have a bit of racing ettiquete where we dont go out of our way to damage each others cars or even touch Unnecessarily. :gayfight: The annoying thing on TDU online was that virtually every race i entered i was purposeley pushed off the road by others, and even with no car damage it didnt make it any better

The damage on actually discourages that to some extent - less likely to go into someone if it means loosing bits of your own car.
