I've been looking into the tuning options currently available, which basically consists of:

TMS - Throttle bodies - £5000 - around 200bhp?

Courtney - Supercharger - £5500 - around 230bhp - limited by engine internals

Regal - Turbo - £4000 - around 230bhp - again limited by engine internals

I've had a good search around but found very little info on the Regal conversion - it states on their website (this page) that it can produce up to 260bhp, but this, realistically, would be limited to around 230 as per the supercharger - unless changing rods and pistons (prob around £1500 extra  )
I found a rr graph for the conversion posted up by minime for a zafira, which was running 235bhp without internal mods
I can't find any photo's of the conversion or any graphs for the VX tho

Has anyone on here got this kit installed (would be nice to be able to get a feel for the reliability)

I like the way that it can be done ine a modular way too - buying the dbilas intake manifold/software first and adding the turbo unit later.

I contacted Dbilas themselves, but they just pointed me straight back to Regal (who have said that they will send me a picture, but nothing has turned up one week later  )

a friend of mine called graham stobart has the turbo conversion...there was a few teething problems last year when he had the installation done but it is all sorted and i believe the car is running around 230bhp and about the same amount of torque...very very quick!

spend the extra £1500 and get the SC fitted...... and dont take your car to lager the ammount you would pay (£4k) is well over the odds for the bits fitted imho, plus without actually changing any internals its gonna have to be boosting high up the rev range when volumetric effiiciency is dropping (so the dynamic CR drops too) rather than being able to add small boost at low rpm like the SC is capable of.

my main concern would be that there is no additional cooling mentioned in the details of that kit. A Slindborg says the courtnay kit includes alot more components including a full cc system the fitting of which is a large chunk of the cost as it's the same as fitting the VXT one. Plus all the major components of the SC system are OEM parts that have undergone extensive testing.

Hello I also tried to contact Regal with some questions about the Turbo conversion, but they never answered me. My problem is that I live in Norway and want to mount the kit myself, but I need the software, I asked them how this could be arranged, but they never answers mail`s... Seem`s like they dont want to sell this kit...

Think I'll try giving them another call to get a bit more info, I'm not sure how it all fits in, so a picture would be good too! Minime - what problems did your friend have with it? were they just little niggles (software etc) or mechanical failures? :)

Stage 2 Supercharger conversion is around 240-245bhp. The weak point is going to be rods which are safe to 250bhp which is why we've capped the conversion under this. Here's a graph from an indepedent dyno dynamics rolling road for the Stage 2 S/C conversion ..........

Cheers mate thumbsup What else do I need for the conversion - at the moment all I have is a standard exhaust with a vse on the back - would the gains be limited without changing the cat (and taking out the pre-cat) No probs if I need a custom exhuast (semi expecting it) - just means an extra month saving  :) with the turbo convesion it is supplied with the downpipe/cat I think

To get the 240+ power from the Stage 2 conversion does require a de-restricted sports exhaust system. The engine requires better flow for maximum power, and so would be limited with a standard system/front pipe set up.

Throttle body kit will give between 165bhp-235bhp depending on level of tune. To self kit the price is £2100 incl VAT

Right then - I need to decide whether or not to discount the idea of the turbo conversion then, as I will need an exhaust first for the TB's or SC, but not with the Turbo Conversion. I'll give Regal one last chance to respond to my email  :)
