I would be worried about a Cat D atom.... There isnt much to them as it is let alone enough damage to make it cat D (uneco to repair ie over 22k worth of damage  ) although i do love them and will have one one day but i wouldnt like a Cat D one lol

to be fair I'd expect it would be pretty easy to rack up a bill high enough to write one off as their very low volume so parts are expensive and it would prob have to go back to the factory for repair. The advantage id unlike the VX you should be able to replace bits of the chassis that are damaged, still vxr money for somthing that you'd have been able to use about twice this year.

Cat D yet he says "It only caused minor rear end damage".

Car for sale at £22k.

Cat D prices are 1/3 off?

Would that make an undamaged car worth £30k maybe?

What level are cars written off at? Repair costs of more than 50% of market price?

50% of £30k = 15k of damage

£15k = "minor rear end damage"?

Any find fault with my calculations cos that just doesn't make sense

Same reg!

Different reg.

YouTube is WJ55 DJN (or something very similar)

Pistonheads is WJ55 KLF

Its only a 160 too.......... They do hold their money very well though. There was an n/a 245 that went for brand new supercharged money on there a few weeks back...... Ariel are talking an 8 month waiting list atm....... I think they command too high a value TBH.... MOz

I saw that one and thought it must be a blatent scam..... Firstly, charged models do not go for £17k. Secondly charged models only come in 270 or 300 BHP, not 250. There is a n/a 245 BHP version though....

I would be wary of the authenticity of that ad. If I'm wrong, fair play to whoever got the bargain of the century.

With Ariel being the only likely people to repair a damaged atom, and given the fact they will stip and rebuild a car at each service then you can guess how much a repair will cost. Insurance costs are going up as a result, once a few insurers get stung they jack up the premiums. But thats ok, Ariel have plenty of customers who can afford it  Must be great having a monopoly. And, a Cat D repaird by Ariel will be fine, they would strip and rebuild even if you only change a spark plug.
