Looks like it will be superb, however i am far more interested in how the cars will sound. Compared to the intro video, GT4 didn't deliver in that department. Sorry to ask a stupid question but i still have a PS2, which i basically bought for Gran Turismo. Should i buy an Xbox 360 or PS3 to get the best out of GT5?

Personally I would go for a X360

I came from a PS2 and the controller felt much better and generally worked loads better.

Gran Turismo 5 is the only reason i would want one because it will not come out on the 360.

But when i actually used a PS3 i was very disappointed. The control pad was exactly the same as the one on the PS2 (which feels very outdated when you have used the 360 pad with triggers) but the PS3 pad now no longer vibrates to accommodate the six-axis technology which IMO is not good :(

My brother in law has a PS3, he said the only reason he traded his 360 in for it was because of the Media features/Blu ray player etc, but if it was down to just a gaming machine he would have the 360.

This was always forced by the car manufacturers as they didnt want their cars to be shown damaged :borg: though my understanding is that the licensing has changed for this version.

GT5 will not be on the 360. The 360 has Forza 2 though which is excellent.

Best of both worlds, own a 360 and a PS3. I convinced the wife that the PS3 would be used as a DVD, Blu Ray player and an internet browser so I could keep the 360 too!!!!!

The PS3 is the inferior atm, but wait until the next gen games come out for it from Xmas onwards.

As Moz knows i had the PS3 and 360 I got rid of the PS3 as I dont have a HD tv and wasnt getting the most out of the blueray player in it and was a bit disinterested in future releases, basicaly buy a 360 if you want to play cool games and have a great online experience, PS3 if you want a multimedia centre without having a PC in the front room!

Look at the latest video footage for GT5

>clicky<

GT5 Prologue available as free download:

>gimme!<

PS3 for me – and forget the controllers, the G25 is what you need:

>nice!<

I've already taken mine apart to mod the pedals for my 1:1 Exige cockpit project.

Exige footwell:

G25 pedals:

My dismantled and modded G25 pedals – you can invert them to mount and space them as in the real car :)

Cockpit taking shape – Elise wheel fitted to the G25 base for more realism and G25 gearchange dismantled to fit Lotus gear surround at correct position :)

Going to get the PS3 bundle with F1 and MotorStorm tomorrow – and looking at 37" full HD screens.

This is going to be fun! :D

GT5 Prologue along with F1, MotorStorm, etc. will keep me going 'till the full game comes out.

Can't comment on the clutch yet – but it doesn't work on the PS2, as the G25 wheel didn't exist when that came out and so the G25 is "recognised" as the Driving Force Pro – the previous Logitech wheel, which I have in my Speedster cockpit:
Posted ImageI.

I bought another PS2 and another GT4 so that I can link the PS2s and use both cockpits together so each racer has the full view on their screen. Bundled with the second PS2 was Burnout Dominator which does have clutch support when run on the PS3, though the gaame itself is not so good from what I've heard – not tried it yet.

If the G25 clutch action is not that good, there is always the possibility to mod it:
>clicky<move and even move from the PS3 to PC games – which the real hardcore gamers swear by. Some of the projects are amazing – though you need space and skill to build them, space to set them up and/or a tolerant partner.

A few examples of what people have done:

>Escort on track<

>McLaren F1<

>Ferrari F1<

And if you go the PC route, you can combine 3 monitors – you have to see this!:
>panoramic view<

or even 3 beamers...
