Time has come for me to change cars (again!), I get itchy feet far to quickly!

If anyone is interested, please have a look at my advert on Piston Heads.

Thanks for looking.

I'm going through a time of finding the VXT too annoying (rattles, bumps etc. getting to me), and had been looking at M3s, and this one looks like a lovely example, going from the ad. The only thing that was putting me off getting one was the thoughts of the running costs. Can you give a quick run down of servicing cost & frequency (is it purely mileage based, or time as well?) I'm not bothered about poor mpg as I don't do enough miles for it to matter! chinky chinky

I'll be honest with you, service costs are extortionate!

I think thats the key to owning a nice M3, you need to find a reputable independent specialist. Otherwise your gonna end up paying over the odds for very poor service.

Oil service costs around £300
Inspection1 costs around £600
Inspection 2 costs around £1200

That's the run down of service costs from BMW. Inspection 1 is due next on this car, in 13k miles.

If you find an independant M3 specialist, take 60% off the above costs.

It's purely milage based services on the M3.

Cheers

Greg

PS. MPG is pretty good depending on the driving your doing. You will see 30+mpg if your on the motorways a lot, I've had 36mpg cruising at 70ish. I'm averaging 23.9mpg at the moment. I've got a mixed motorway and A road drive into work and that is not being scared to use my right foot when I need to.

Worth mentioning also that even though the car's computer states 13k miles until the next service is due, depending on how you drive (not just thrashing it, but heating cycles, long journeys, short hops etc etc) that number will not reflect the actually miles to go. I had an M3 that only needed 8k miles to service when the computer stated 11k miles..... MOz
