Anyone experimented with any, any benefits, choices?

I've still got the OE pads on my car, and to be honest, I am not that impressed with the standard set-up. Initial bite is relatively poor, and if the car has been lying for a few days, the brakes need a couple of hard stops to clean up the disks and pads. I've not tracked my car so can't comment on absolute stopping power or brake fade.
I think I'll replace the pads and discs pretty soon after getting the VXT. The Elise boys seem to favour Pagids, with RS-14s apparently offer a good compromise for road and track use.
I think they are fairly similar spec to Mintex 1144s? There are some question marks over the durability of Mintex pads. I used 1155s with Tarox 40 groove discs when racing my Nova. The brakes were fantastic and stood up to 2 heavy stops from 110mph per lap without any brake fade. Only problem was, I only got 1 qualifying session and 2 races out of a set - 30 laps max!!
I've not heard any good reports about EBC Greenstuff pads. Quite a few have destroyed front pads after one track session. Should be OK for road use though?
There are plenty of options for the 288mm vented discs - standard fitment on V6 Vectras. Again, the 16 groove Pagids look good value for money (about £185/pair on the courtenay website www.courtenaysport.co.uk). The Tarox 40 groove discs are a bit too noisy for road use IMO.
Mostly just stuff I've picked up from various websites and the Lotus BBS, so use it at your peril

I know it's not quite the same type of car, but I'm on the second set of GreenStuff pads on my Astra.
If anything it's probably as hard, if not harder on it's brakes as the VX220 - ok it's not as fast, but there is probably a ton of pig iron in the engine bay (Mine's the diesel one).
I've not been able to destroy them! I've changed from the standard vented discs (at the front) to Black Diamond discs. I've got the drilled & grooved ones - quite noisy, but a marked improvement over the standard discs.
The biggest improvement is that they fade far less, initial bite is much better, and it seems easier to modulate braking effort.
EBC do do a RedStuff pad, which is aimed more for track type work.
I used MotorSport World to buy my bits from - the guy there is helpful, and his prices seem rather good.

I have used many different pads on the Rallye (which is the same weight as the VX) and found greenstuff to be very poor. They recently reformulated the compound V4 ? and IMHO they are now too hard for the disk.
Currently use Mintex 1144 and find these better.
Cheers

In Italy, tuning-heads rave about the BLUE-stuff from EBC....go wonder...EBC do do a RedStuff pad, which is aimed more for track type work.
