I have just been on the Astra owners club forum and found some details that suggest that Vauxhall have revised (and offered a fix for older models) a few of the pipes that supply cooling water to the turbo on Astra/Zafira VXR models, it would seem that the new pipework takes the supply of water before it has been heated by the engine and this in turn is supposed to provide better cooling for the turbo as they have had some issues?. I wonder if a similar modification could be applied to our turbos? it would seem to only be a few bits of pipework and "T" pieces etc, anyone know how the turbo cooling circuit is plumbed and if it could be altered as it has been on the Astra VXR etc? For all I know ours may already be setup this way but I thought it may be worth looking at. Darren.....

I saw on technical specification of new Z20LEH engine that auxilliary electric cooling pump had been removed. I wonder if this modification of turbocharcher cooling circuit modification is tied ? Someone known which modifications had been performed on Z20LEH cooling circuit ?

Aux pump is VX only. It's there because the engine is in the back and the Radiator is in the front, thus needs higher pressure to circulate. Astras have both engine and rad in the same location, hence no aux pump needed. IIRC the turbos are oil cooled in LET engines not water.

Aux pump cooling pump is installed on all Z20LET engines (VX and Astra)
Turbochargers of Z20LET and LEH engines are cooled by part of water cooling circuit.

I think both turbos (LEH,LET) are water cooled as lots of people have fitted the LEH turbo onto the LET as a direct replacement, Im wondering if Thorney has retro fitted any of these kits on the Astra VXR yet as he would then maybe have some idea of what the kit actually achives and if we could do the same.
