Steve Williams is your man, he races his Duratec S1 to great success. He's based in Maidenhead as well which isn't a million miles from you.

Might be worth having a word with a chap called Brian Drought - he posts on seloc quite a lot and has an account on here as well. His S1 Elise was Duratec before the Audi conversion he now has.

/lurch voice

You called

i have an very good engine builder pal at work he's propper oldskool and certainly knows his stuff (been with F**d for god knows how long and was heavily involved in the twink rallying days) His names Dave Rowe. I've got to speak with him this arvo so ill pick his brains for you mate.

One of my other workmates is actually building a high spec 2.3 atm but he's gone from originally doing a rip snorter N/a to a turbot build now, ill see what he has to say.

what have you got in mind spec wise?

edit: where's my message gone...?

edit edit: I have a vague recollection of him having it done at elise parts. I could be talking arse biscuits though. He had some funky looking curved intake trumpets made up due to space restrictions.

looks like the conversion will be going ahead sometime after March 08. The 2.3 with Cosworth plenum will probably be the way to go, looking for 220 to 250 bhp so any specs and people with cheap bits appreciated thumbsup

okely dokely...

a nice 240ish/260bhp Duratec recipe.

take =

1 new standard block £650
1 ranger balanced crank £650
4 Cosworth 12:1 pistons £400
4 Cosworth Corrillo rods £450
1 set of Cosworth HD con rod bearings £80
1 set of standard mains POA
1 Cosworth race head kit (includes valves & cams) £1700
1 set of ARP main & head studs £300
1 Cosworth inlet plenum £300
2 Piper vernier cam pulleys £100
2 ARP cam pulley bolts £40
1 Titan lightened & balanced flywheel £170
1 Helix organic 220mm clutch £ £170
1 set of ARP flywheel bolts £40

plus a few gaskets, odd & sods etc. Throw them together, bake on Gas mark 7 for 70 minutes and voila, one rip snorting 2.3!

p.s. importing the bits is the way to go with the exchange rate being so good atm mate.

if there's any OE parts you think you'll need you know where i am ;)

'kin 'ell mate, you've got more chance of keeping both the S1's than me dragging that old shed out! yeah i think the Audi would appeal to me more tbh no need to ring its neck like the Honda's chinky chinky
