Theres a fair amont of plastering work going on here at the moment, and i think the 360 has started to suffer with the dust, first of all it started to complain of dirty discs [which they weren't] now it wont play a disc at all, it just comes up as - ''please insert an xbox360 disc in this console''?
The console just makes that skipping/ticking style noise..
I'm guessing it's got crusted up on the inside? It works fine other than that.. ie - it still downloads and plays downloadables etc..
Will a cleaning disc remove the crud or am i just wastin cash.
not sure on the cleaning disc, but my xbox does the same, clicking away then says disc is dirty etc, lots of friends have had same issue (usually before the drive dies

prob not what you want to hear though sorry

you could force a red ring of death by cooking it via towel or something then it will get fixed for you

This isn't good, this will be be my 4th 360.. this one only came back a month or so ago

If i was a hardcore 9hrs a day player i'd understand why they keep breaking - but i'm not, i use them for a maximum of 9hrs a week

I'm really pissed off, i have aslo just read that they send you back someone else refurbed xbox

fecking feck, fecking feckers!!!
I think i shall be leaving the Xbox comunity for good.

Best thing to do first is just change the DVD POT calibration, that fixed mine.
Here's a guide
http://www.boshdirec...download/gid,2/
it looks daunting but its p*ss easy just turn the screw a tiny bit then retry it, then repeat until it works

So did you have the same problem then? Has it happened since?
Do you fancy fixing mine

I've looked up re-flashing, it seems only the toshiba, samsung drives can be done..
Theres a guide [here] telling you how to find out what drive yours is.
