Hi there,

I've decided to give my current car (MX-5) to my parents for Christmas, so I'm on the lookout for a VX220 for myself to buy within the next two weeks.

After looking on Autotrader & the ads on here, I've got a good idea of what I'm after:-

  • Engine:Only 2.2 NA, no turbo (unfortunately... insurance)
  • Colour: Ideally black, silver or grey - will consider others though
  • Mileage: Around 40k
  • History: Needs full service history, preferably one owner
  • Modifications: No performance / obvious mods (again, insurance thumbsdown )
  • Budget: Around £10k

I think that's about it - obviously, I know it's a difficult time of year to sell, so hopefully someone should be interested in a quick sale. If so, give me a call on 07731 430052 or e-mail me vx220@shellcreative.co.uk

Cheers,
Dan.

Hi Dan, I'm not selling mine but just to let you know to check the insurance before you're sure it'll cost a fortune. Some companies are better than others. Admiral let me off because the previous owner had done the work chinky chinky Cheers, Tim

Hi

I did exactly the same as you are doing, went from an MX5 to the VX220, I can tell you it was the best decision I ever made, there is no comparison between the two cars. Didn't find the difference in insurance too bad either.

Reluctantly I need to sell my Silver VX220, and it meets your requirements, however its up for £11,800, which is negotiable if you can stretch above £10k? If interested call me on 07825 459001. See http://www.pistonhea...ales/315501.htm for pictures.

regards

Darren

:tumble: Unfortunately for me ill be selling mine in the very near future! Its A 2001 Silver Na, very good condition and low mileage (only 31k). No performance mods, oh and did I mention it as the VSE fitted (sounds very nice)! Ill be going to Australia in the new year and will therefore need a fairly quick sale, hence offers around 9k would be considered! Either drop me an email at davedara@googlemail.com or give me a call on 07872015303. David.

Hi Tim,

Cheers for the heads up.... almost all of the insurance companies were quoting me unhappy at about £2.3k+, for a standard VX. Didn't have the stomach to see how much the turbo / ones with mods would cost.

Fortunately, I've found a single insurer who will do it for £1.5k for 10 months. The VX is certainly going to be an expensive hobby, but some things in life are worth paying for I reckon!

Dan.

Mine is also for sale reasonably priced for an NA and the milage is still below average (even if everyone wants a low mileage one!)

I'd recommend selling through Adrian Blyth. You'll have to form your own opinion on his margin, but it was quick and painless. My car went within a day of it going on his website. Simon
