Tashyboy promised himself a new computer just after crimbo, finances permitting and had a quick look in PC world. They had the ideal computer reduced from £700 - £600 as shown in daily paper which was then in store further reduced to £540 with a bigger TFT screen. Tash did a quick cartwheel and said I'll see you as soon as crimbo is paid for. Last week went into PC world for said computer and its gone back up to £700 :o   having spoke to the pretty boys tash told them poiltely to get stuffed. Weds night, tash took young sprogg tashette to Mansfield Currys to buy a Isymphony ipod mini cd player thing, reduced from £100 to £69.99, they had none in but told me they had loads in daybrook at Nottingham, Tashyboy leathered it to Notts in VXR and got there 5 mins before closing at 8pm. 1 was on display and tash asked re price. £99.99, I said that is wrong it should be £69.99 and the upgraged one at the side is that price(£99.99). He checked on the till and it was £99.99 reduced from £140. after 10 mins arguing with me saying ow the fook is that right, he could'nt do owt for me and away I walked with young sprogg tashette upset and not quite grasping what knobheads worked at Currys. Not wanting to bore you any further but, Tash between crimbo and New year went to Comet for a 37" Samsung Telly for lad tash, none in but 4 in Northamton and we can ship one up. Price of telly £699. He then says £18 for delivery, missis tash says no ta we'll pick it up from here. No he says we can only order it on a home delivery at a cost of 18 spots. Missis tash says "stick said telly were the sun don't shine" and up she got. 20 seconds later lad returns with free delivery and its sorted out on a "managers discretion". Conclusion, 1 - 0 to Comet and 2 own goals to Currys. £699 to Comet, and £610 in Tashyboys back pocket that should be in Currys swiss bank account. Currys you have more than bogged me off this crimbo big style and no wonder you are going down quicker than a Man Utd player at his crimbo party.

I feel for you, i have had numerous similar experiences. There only saving grace is, although the staff including managers are complete to$£ers, i have nothing but praise for the people i have spoken to on their customer service line. Each time i have had a problem with store's awkwardness or stupid staff they have been very apologetic and not only sorted the problem, but each time sent a gift voucher as a sweetener. My only advise would be don't settle with an answer from the store ring up and complain to the customer service team as they are real people with common sense. (well in my experience). BTW, this is pc world and curry's!! Comet aren't so helpful.

Took young sprogg tashys ipod nano back to Comet, would'nt connect to computer. Had to speak to Nisha at apple to get a number to quote to Comet for return of Ipod. I could not understand a flippin word. 20 mins of pure frustration. It went summat like this, Sorry love but but Richard in store needs your name for referance, ah it is Nisha, eh pardon, N as in November, I as in India, my country, No wonder I was struggling, She then asks me if I am having a lovely holiday, This lady was either a brilliant wind up merchant or proper thick. Missis tash was sat opposite me with her legs crossed laughing her head off. Not quite how I planned me jollydays

Best thing to do is to reserve on line and collect. That was you get the internet price and you know it's in stock before you leave the house. I actually bought a TV and home cinema from PC world a couple of weeks ago. Currys had no stock (had bought discounted Currys vouchers from work so needed to use Currys) so I went to PC world to buy a wireless router (same group so I thought i may as well use some of my vouchers). Didn't realise they had telly's but they had the exact one I wanted, and I didn't even have to ask them to match the internet price, the girl just said "I'll check what price that is on line and you can have it for that"!! Then the killer- my home cinema system came up at £30 more than it was advertised at but instead of taking £30 off, she put it through for £30!! Noiice!!! So I ended up getting my telly, home cinema, a stand and a wireless router for £8 more than the in-store price of the telly! Then when you take into account the discounted vouchers I bought through work I got a further £90 discount! Result!

It is no surprise to me that DSG are on the rocks. They make 70% of their profits from selling people warranties. The Chief Exec is retiring after 11 years and is being accused of spending more time on the golf course than in the board room. IMO it is a business built on foundations made of sand. I have never understood why anyone shops with them when people like John Lewis offer the same product for the same price and do not charge you for a warranty. If a recession sets in then Dixons are in for a really tough ride. The shares have taken a pasting already.

I was discussing this with my mate who is quite senior in the finance dept at DSGi the other day.

He agreed, and said that if it wasn't for his staff discount he'd always go to John Lewis for a TV. The only advantage that DSG products tend to have over John Lewis is that they serve the more budget markets, i.e. John Lewis don't sell any cheap items, only the higher end stuff!

Therefore, if you ant a cheap TV for the bedroom / games roon say, you'd be better off going to Currys as you could pick something up for less money than you would at John Lewis.....

It always annoys me when they try and sell you warranty cover rant especially when it cost £70 to cover an item that cost £75. .....But Sir if it goes wrong its covered.......... Yes but IF it goes wrong, which it shouldn't and if it does I'll contact the manufacturer or I'll buy a new one and by then it'll be a newer version. Once bought a CD player from Comet, took it on Hols with us for 3 weeks in which time it went wrong. Came home and took it back to be told that as it is older than 2 weeks it would have to go away for repair and not be replaced  I had a long chat (I don't do angry/shouting/teddy throwing) with the manager and eventually walked out the store with a bettter quality CD player. I think a lot depends on who you speak to and how you speak to them in store.

just bought a cheap and cheerful microwave form currys....£45...and then they tried to sell a immediate replacement policy for £10. Thats 25% of the cost new when under warranty it would be replaced for the first year anyhow... who would repair a 45 quid appliance.

The extended warranty PC World offer on inkjet printers can be quite useful. I negotiated a 3 year extended warrany on a £50 printer for £10. We've swapped the printer twice now due to typical inkspit issues, new printer every year, well worth the tenner!

The Office of Fair Trading published a report about 6 years ago which concluded that extended warranties on domestic electrical items were almost certainly not worth buying, and in some cases the pricing of the warranty was a complete rip-off (up to 50% of the purchase price of the item). The OFT referred the matter to the Competition Commission who agreed. The law was changed to give customers the right to change their mind and ask for their money back, but they didn't go the whole way and force retailers to stop offering extended warranties at outrageous prices. So you can still get ripped off, but frankly you have to be daft to fall for it. Buyer beware.

Sorry just here to rant!! I effin hate COMET with a vengeance!!! They are unprofessional, rude, arrogant, rsoles. Sorry!! Just spent nearly 2hrs in there just to get a refund on a couple of day old toaster that only toasted one side of the bread!! One member of staff on Cust services desk, big queue, and all the other staff were standing around chatting!! Got fed up waiting and said to a suited staff member, 'any chance of someone else to help here?' the reply i got was rude and VERY unprofessional. I'm never buying something from my local comet again!! poss. all of them!

Grandma tash told the missis to go to the CO OP, cos they had some 3 pieces/settes in that were on sale and not like the Sale at Land of leather/DFS/SCS were nowts reduced and thay are only comfy if you have some part of your body missing. Anyway tash and missis tash had a look around westgate CO OP and we saw 2. Never got hassaled by a sales person. Missis tash picked one and it comes in 13 weeks. Warranty was £179, but said if we have it we wont charge £29 delivery and you can have a leather care kit chucked in worth £29. All in all £120 for a 5 year warranty, and seeing as the kids ruined the last 2 within 5 years its looking a safe bet. Ave slagged of those that have offered me crap service this crimbo so I will be equally as quick with a big up tashyboy bless yer luv yer squeeze yer for a job well done at the CO OP. Ps, she had a lovely cleavage as well ;)

I always go to Argos for my stuff, they're fine, it works, they normally have it stock and it's no hassle.

Tash, when you look for a PC try Novatech, they're just round the corner from me, the guys there are real geeks and really know their stuff and will get you a system to meet your needs for a good price and deliver it.

I've bought my last 3 PC's from there and never had a problem.

On Boxing day we went to kit out the house with dishwasher, fridge freezer, hoover etc. To me its all much of a muchness in terms of prices, and discounts. So went into curries and they were the least helpful anyone has ever been. Walked round the corner and 30min later Comet were £1000 better off. Delivered in two days between christmas and new year.

One thing to note is that John Lewis DO pricematch, especially places like curry's, and the best part is, in JL you get the 5 year warranty!! Worth its weight in gold as far as electrical items go!!

I always tend to judge a retailer on how good they are if things go wrong. ie. After sales service. John Lewis seem to be the best in this area according to customer satisfaction surveys.

Unless you have a wedding list with them, as this is when the whole John Lewis experience goes tits up. (whole different story which I may post some time when I've calmed down, though I've not much in the past six months!!)

Well young tashys 37" samsung came today and he was setting it up when I had to go out for an hour. On my return young tash is hammering 5-0 on the fifa 08 or whateva it is called.

Anyway I asked him what he thought and he told me its ace and its a 1080 HD telly and not a 740 HD. I told him he was wrong and he promptly showed me the 1080 mark on the telly.

Off tash goes down stairs and check the receipt aginst box in the Hall, They had only sent the wrong telly. Tash then promptly gets on the website and checks price of telly compared to what he has paid. It is £300 more. He gets a £900 telly for £600. Poxy bleeder.

No wonder there losing millions[/size]
