Hi All,
Im getting somewhat confused... I know some European law changed around 2000 which stated that Kerb/Curb weight of Cars must include an average driver (75KG) and include ancilliaries such as oils, coolant and a full tank of fuel (no passangers).
Does this mean that cars pre-2000 arent measured like this, i.e. without a driver etc.?! Lets say the quoted figure of a 1994 Mk3 Polo G40 is 820KG; is a VX220 NA heavier or lighter?
Also! Which of the weights for the NA are correct? Has anyone had it corner weighted (i only remember seeing a tubby weighted)?
TIS States 855KG
Parkers etc States 870KG
My friend had a MY05 Seat Ibiza 1.9 TDi Sport with a quoted Kerb weight of 1240KG. When tracking at Castle Donnington we found a pit garage with a weighing machine - she came in at 1150KG without driver, 50% fuel and no rear seats. That seems perfect, so is the VX220NA indeed 855kg - 75kg driver - 25kg fuel = 755kg (or 775kg depending on whos figure you take!)
Id love to know! Ed

My N/A was corner weighted at 941 - but that included driver ballast and 29 litres of fuel.
I've also got Speedlines, whether that makes it heavier/lighter?!
....I would be interested to see what other people have got.

Mine came in at 860KG when it was corner weighted a while back, would rather not say what it was with the driver

Weight from Vauxhall is 950kg from Vauxhall, including mandatory weights.
Driver = 68kg
All fluids incl. 90% ful tank
Luggage = 7kg
If the VX is 860kg, the fluids must weigh 15kg.

I must bump this thread as I haven't really understood what the VX N/A really weights.
Usually I hear the number 875kg as weight of the VX220
My owner's manual says that the Kerb weight of the car is 855kg
It also says that the Kerb weight is including a 68kg driver 90% of the fueltank filled (40x0,9x0,9=32.4kg) and 7kg of luggage.
This would mean that my car would weight in at: 747,6kg without driver and fuel.
Could this be right really?
How to people compare car weights to each other?
The only interesting figure to me is a car with all essential fluids but no fuel and no driver.
That would be the only weight that is valid to compare two different cars.
Do anyone know what a standard NA weights in exactly this condition?
We also have a Police checkpoint a couple of miles from my home where it is possible for anyone to weight the car. It is just a cut out square of the road that you place the car on and then you can read the weight from a monitor hanging a couple of meters away.
I don't know how exact it is but I could control it with my own weight ;-)
I will try to remember going there asap to see what my car really weights.
I think that I have pick away some 40kg from the car, headrests, tullet manifold, light weight wheels and stereo.

Exactly.
Why include the driver when most people know what they weigh?
Why include a full tank of fuel as it just penalises manufactures who put a big fuel tank in? You can always not fill it if you're that concerned with weight.
Completely stupid to include these.
