Thanks to the new Suzuki Swift there are new dimensions on the market.
The Germans have got an OK from Yokohama to put it on the original Speedster front rim.

Perhaps not for trackmaniacs but might be a cheap option for the understeering rest...
Searched mytyres.co.uk and found Goodyear and Yokohama in this dimension.

Any chance u could translate that over here Will Goodyear 195/45r17 really fit the original front rims. Bargain for £68

Hello, the topic went already last week around. Thus there is a new tire of Yokohama (S.drive) in the size of 195/45 R17 85W and 235/40 R17 91Y. When the tire exactly on the German market does not come knew Yokohama exactly yet. Explanation of Yokohama that the tire on the Speedster rims fits has I already. Yokohama.PDF
With reifen.com gibt's the tires already. 195/45R17 235/40R17 I believe that it ne good Alternatieve to the 205 is...

Seems like they have trouble with TÃœV (carinspection).
They only have OK from Yokohama and not from Goodyear.
I use R888 so this is not for me.

That looks like great news! I might do that for my next set... I'm currently running 205s on rear rims on the front - but the way the tyre is stretched to fit it does worry me a little. I'd much prefer a wider tyre on a thinner rim.

I will be needing new tyres next month so this is a possibility but there is no financial advantage. Anyone got any experience with these tyres as the last thing I would want to do is upset the handling. I have not had a problem with understeer but don't like the look of the skinny 175 fronts. I dont know much about tyres but this got me looking on a tyre website at various tyres. Are there certain rules regarding what tyres will fit without the risc of them popping off? I read a lot about 16" fronts, so would a wider lower profile tyre be a step closer to this but keeping the same wheel? eg. NS-2 185/35 R17 82V TW (only£50) So is 185 the width and 35 the profile, 10mm wider and 20mm smaller diameter? Like I said I know nothing about tyres

Optimal width of the rim for standard tyres is: 40 milimeters less than the tyrewidth (and divided with 25 if you whant inches). Example 175 tyre wants 5,4 inch rim (175-40)/25=5,4.
If you have racetyres/semislicks (don't know your word for it, we call it R-tyres) you should add 1,5-2 inches to the above. The 175 then wants 6,9-7,4 inch rim.

Not optimal but it works for me:
On 7 inch rims I have 205 front and 235 rear...

Just need abit more feed back from people who have these.. the fit looks ok on the rims..

Fronts & rears (Yoko Sdrives) similar in cost to O.E Bridgestones.. But if you go for Goodyear Eagle F1's then you could save abit of money..

Hello everybody

at the moment we have not much direct comparisons to the stock ones. One has changed to them and is for the first few days very pleased. But there aren´t any longtime experiences on track/hill/alps/... We will report as soon as we got further details. Me for myself will change a set too but for first results it will take 4weeks...

Noticed on blackcircles that the goodyear eagle F1 is also now available in 195/45 R17, for around £75 fitted or something. Could be worth a look

I'm not sure but 2 sizes bigger on the original front rim wouldn't that make the tyre a bit swelled up??
If yes, it's a bit pointless as to have full contact path with the tyre on the road the tyre surface needs to be flat.
If the rim is not big enough a 185/R17 might be a better option??
I'm just guessing...

Some good pictures in close up of an 195/17 tyre on the vx220 original front rim could reveal more.

I put 195- 45 / 17 pirelli drago 5000 in my vx na, ( max width allowed on standard front rims) fit perfect, look great, car drives great... had s1 111s before, never driven a vx other than this set up 225's pirelli 6000 on rear... will not change this set up
