How easy is it to replace a radio in the VX? As it is all connecting wires together, how difficult can it be? Considering I haven't done this before, any advice welcome.
cheers

It is simple.
The wiring is all connected via the common standard 'ISO' connector, most radios of the last 5 years or so use these connectors.
On the back of the standard radio there is just 2 connector plugs (one is all the speaker wires, the other power & earth etc). just pull the 2 halves of the connector apart & the new radio should just plug straight in.
Even if you don't already have a radio in the car the VX comes with the wiring up to the female side of the ISO connectors, the new radio should have the mail side & plug straight in.
Regards
Chris

& You'll need to buy a stereo removal tool from Halfords (or car stereo shop) that allows you to release the VDO unit.

cheers boys. Sounds simple.
For the removal tool, is it the same as using a spoon end to open a tin of paint?

Check all bits & pieces you got with car, they should supply the radio removal tools, mine were in the back of the folder with the service book & handbook in.

I used coat hangers, worked a treat, worthwhile changing the speakers, I put a MDLP sony mini disk, with a remote IR plipper, much better sound

I went for a minidisk too - my head unit (JVC) plays both CD's and minidisks, but all I use are the minidisks as they fit nicely into the small storage areas by the doors
If anybody (like me) ordered the car without a stereo then they probably haven't got a hole for one either. I ordered the replacement facia strip with the cutout in it - took about 8 weeks to arrive with lots of chasing up. Only cost about £50 and fitting was easy-ish. All the connectors/speakers are present with ISO connectors to just plug-and-play.
Must admit, you probably will need to change the speakers - it's my next job I think. There are probably other posts on this on the forum, but if anybody reads this then please add your recommendations.

Surely if your from Liverpoll you will have several differnt ways of removing a stereo in a matter of seconds. Granted you might not know how to put them back in.
Any tips on how to remove the VX alloys?
