Hello all, my first time here having just bought an 03 VX220 with only 3200 miles on the clock and now my pride and joy. Can anyone recommend somewhere good to take it in the Wolverhampton/West Mids area for an MOT and service. My local Vauxhall dealer is a VX dealer but somehow I don't trust them with my car. Are there any good specialists in my area? Your advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Don't use Evans Halshaw on the Bilston Road (previously CD Brammel), Wolves - long story - if you search you'll find some of my posts

I use the Vaux garage on the Bridgnorth Road, Worfield, for MOTs; and have used them for service too - very accomodating and professional (they are also part of the Evans Halshaw group) one of their mechanics used to own a VX so knows his way around them, fitted my VSE no probs and for a decent price :) - they aren't 'VX220 specialists' tho so can't order all VX specific parts

Or if you don't mind FVSH take it to Topgear Automotive just off the Stafford road - great guys, had a few bits done there as have many others - cheap labour rate too thumbsup

And welcome chinky chinky

Most people recommend Top Gear - they're in Wolverhampton thumbsup Do a search, and you'll find reviews. Edit: sorry didn't read the bit about MOT and service (before you put me right mandarin :P ) Welcome chinky chinky

I'm from Birmingham and can highly recommend a motorsport company called 'Horizon Motorsport' They do all my work (service and mot's included) Not wanting to enter a popularity contest regarding the 'most' vote, just talking from my own experiences, besides it's always good to have alternative options as opinions always vary as does experiences of.

Have a read through the Member Product/Service Reviews and see who takes your fancy.thumbsup

I use evans halshaw in Wolverhampton. Never had a problem with them over the last 5 years. I deal with Tim who is the service manager there. Its good to build up a rapport, so whoever you go with, stick with them if you get a good service. Mani

I bought mine from Brindley Vauxhall in Cannock, the salesman Craig Woodward has owned several VX's, haven't had any work apart from the service done there but it's good to know the mechanics have experience working on these cars. Trying to get a part from my local Vauxhall dealer in Banbury and the parts guy didn't even know what a vx220 was.

Craig and Steve are top blokes and I'd gladly purchace from either of them again chinky chinky

Have had 'dealings' with their service dept and I'll leave it at that, except to say if you've not had any work done apart from a service I'd quit whilst your ahead

The only garages I'd trust in the Midlands are Horizon or Top Gear thumbsup

I've been very impressed with Top Gear. Their labour rates are much cheaper than vauxhalls and they take a lot more care of your car. thumbsup thumbsup

I'll drop in a free plug for my old man's place then... Bicknells in Great Bridge (New Road, Tipton) - also have a workshop in Worcester. Tell service that big Steve's son sent you, should sort a discount ;)

Depending on your definition of Midlands, then for those who are to the east of Brum I'd very highly recommend Scared Stiff (aka Guglielmi Motorsport) in Daventry thumbsup Clicky

Top Gear prices are hard to beat. I was initially very pleased with the work but as i have poked around the car i've had to put a few things back on correctly. Nothing major, just a few loose pipes, things not popped back into brackets and things done up loosely. Attention to detail i'm looking for.

Thanks for your information, I went to the Vauxhall garage at Worfield on the Bridgnorth road today. They were very obliging and helpful, the mechanic you mentioned is still there and when I told them I had been recommended by you they seemed pleased and remembered your car.
Mines booked in for Tuesday morning so hopefully all should be ok then.
Thanks again
